Drone Rodeo Chicago: Gianni Andreatta, John Thayer w/ projections by @thysbe.music 🎆

Jan 28, 2026 @hideoutchicago
Tickets at www.stretchmetal.org/calendar

The Hideout and StretchMetal present Drone Rodeo, StretchMetal’s monthly ambient music series in the round. This special edition welcomes Winds Gate, the latest EP by John Thayer, marking a stop on his album release tour.

John Thayer is a Hudson Valley–based musician, producer, and audio engineer whose experiential compositions are inspired by a deep attention to the sounds of the natural world. A trained drummer and percussionist, his solo work blends studio experimentation with improvisatory performance, ranging from layered ambient soundscapes to polyrhythmic electro-acoustic collage. His recent ambient album Winds Gate, released on Aural Canyon, expands this work into a slow-moving, immersive exploration of time, landscape, and perception. He has released music on labels including AKP, Not Not Fun, Astral Editions and Moon Villain, and is a member of YAI and Earth Room. Thayer is also an active collaborator in the experimental scenes of NYC and the Hudson Valley and was formerly the house engineer at Thump Studios in Brooklyn.

Gianni Andreatta is a musician from Southern California, currently based in Chicago. They are a multi-instrumentalist who arranges samples of their playing along with their voice, captured moments, and passing ear worms. They have released 3 solo albums since 2018, as well as a myriad of side projects under the alias Jelly Ear. They are also known for being one half of the duo, Music for dogs.

Drone Rodeo Chicago: Zander Raymond / Clem Leek
Oct 1, 2025
7 PM doors / 7:30 show
21+ @hideoutchicago

The Hideout and StretchMetal are proud to present Drone Rodeo, StretchMetal’s monthly ambient music series in the round.

@clemleek is a British born musician and composer now living in Chicago. He specializes in modern classical and ambient soundscaping. Clem takes inspiration from his surroundings and the experiences that have guided his life. ‘Holly Lane’ being his first full length release on Hibernate Recordings is one such example; drawing on the mysterious nature of the English countryside and coastlines. Holly Lane was followed closely by ‘Lifenotes’ (2011, Drifting Falling) and ‘Rest’ (2013, Brian Records), both showcasing a more traditional side to Clem’s compositional style. These releases cemented Clem as a staple in the modern classical/experimental genre.

@zanderraymond is an interdisciplinary artist and musician living and working in Chicago, IL. In his visual work, he improvises with found materials from his day to day to make collages and sculptures that serve as an autobiographical record of experience while pointing toward the unseen. His music is similarly rooted in improvisation, utilizing synthesizers, field recorders, and open-source sound computers to sample, warp, and build sonic images that embrace serendipity and highlight the musicality of the ordinary. Past Projects have been hosted by Devening Projects (Chicago, IL), Weatherproof (Chicago, IL), Switch Hook Projects (Chicago, IL), and Agatha’s (Buffalo, NY). He’s released music on Moon Glyph, Sound as Language, Florabelle, Cached.media, among others. 📷 @jackgarland

Drone Rodeo Hudson Valley: Saapato / Ruth Mascelli

Sept 17, 2025
8 PM doors / 8:30 show
@theavalonlounge Catskill, NY

The Avalon Lounge and StretchMetal are proud to present Drone Rodeo, StretchMetal’s monthly ambient music series in the round.

@saapato is an Upstate New York based musician and sound artist focusing on intersection of ecology and electronic music composition. As a previous artist in residence for State and National Park services on both US coasts, his work brings wild spaces into people’s headphones in an attempt to have them reconsider their place within nature.

@psychic_handjob pairs slinking, synth-fuelled transcendence with crooning, existential balladry. Softening the edges of the industrial textures he provides as one quarter of the notorious synth punk band Special Interest, Mascelli’s solo performances present a carefully constructed sequence of electronic mood pieces and torch songs infused throughout with a desolate cosmic romanticism.
