#Mising folk music is a rich, oral tradition deeply rooted in the cultural life, social customs, and spiritual beliefs of the Mising community of Assam. It serves as a medium to express the joy, sorrow, love, and daily experiences of the people.

Key Musical Forms:
*Oi Ni:tom*: One of the most popular and lyrical forms of Mising folk music, often described as indigenous lyrical poetry that captures human emotions and cultural experiences.
*A:bang*: Devotional songs that serve as hymns of praise, used to worship gods and goddesses.
*Kaban*: Recognized as one of the oldest forms of Mising folk song, often reflecting traditional narratives.

Instruments and Performance:
Mising music is frequently accompanied by traditional folk dances, where footsteps are a primary rhythmic feature.
The music utilizes unique indigenous instruments, many crafted from natural materials like bamboo. An example is the Tengteng, a percussion-like instrument made from a bamboo cylinder with raised strips of bark.
