UK Music held their annual rooftop summer party where the music industry gathered to hear the government's plans about the industry for the next year.

We heard from UK Music Chief exec Tom Kiehl, as well as @yolandabrown
(Who reminded us of our dear friend Kanya King's contribution through @moboawards ) .....
... and Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy had a raising round of applause for sharing the governments support of the music industry.

Lisa Nandy shared the governments music sector priorities, which include touring across the EU, AI and music accountability, music in all schools and local libraries, fairer music tickets prices for music fans, eradicating tickets touts and more.

The UK music industry will benefit from a range of new powers and investment, with thousands of young people given opportunities to get involved in music, as the government unveils a new long-term plan to back the sector.

From artists and fans to venues, festivals, labels and music businesses, Turn It Up: Our Plan for Music will create the conditions for the sector, already worth at least £8 billion to the economy, to grow, innovate and succeed.

Music tends to only be a privilege and luxury afforded by private schools and wealthy parents. And in turn, the music that we consume has become generated by the privileged and posh ..just from one small percentage of society.

The access to learning a music instrument, attending your favourite pop stars concert and enjoying music, should not be a privilege for the few, but open to absolutely everyone - whether private school or care home child.

The Government plan is called TURN IT UP: OUR PLAN FOR MUSIC - it will see 45 million going towards their music growth package.
It will support 2,000 projects and more than 40,000 music artists.

The music industry contributes 8 billion to the UK economy.
The last government called creative arts education "Mickey mouse degrees".
This government gets it.

In times of all our life chapters .... Weddings, funerals, birthdays, parties, sadness, joy, pandemics, depression, daily life ....we all turn to music.
Respect it.

🍻 Here’s to the weekend! 🎶

I’ve always felt that my debut track *The Weekend* deserved anthem status. 🙌

Maybe it got a little lost in the noise of lockdown when I signed with @newstatemusic @tim.binns @realjudgejules , but I’m still incredibly proud of what we created together @charmusicuk 💙

The package also included a remix from @thisiswh0 which helped introduce my music to even more listeners and opened new doors along the way. 🚪✨

And honestly, that’s just one of many records in my catalogue that I believe deserve a little more love as we head into another hotttt weekend. 🎧🔥

Don’t judge me by my Spotify listener count judge me by the 20 years I’ve dedicated to developing my craft, creating music @bbcessex @bbcsuffolk @bbcintroducing supporting, and staying true to the journey. 🎵💪

Along the way, I’ve been fortunate enough to receive signing records to @basement_jaxx @atlanticjaxxrec @stereomcsmusic and many others. 🙏❤️

I’m grateful for every opportunity, every collaboration, and every person who has supported the music over the years.
Thank you. 🙌

And the momentum keeps building... 🚀

Yesterday I sat down for an interview with @the_mint_magazine_ in London 🇬🇧,
which I can’t wait for you all to read. 📰✨

Plus, I’m excited to be joining @applemusic as a guest DJ, showcasing my percussion and DJ skills in a @perfecthavoc Power Hour presents Nathan X 🥁🎧⚡️

So there are plenty of reasons to keep watching this space, stay connected, and most importantly keep enjoying the music. 🎶❤️

The journey continues... and I genuinely believe the best is still to come. 🚀✨
