@sonja.svanberg Has a really great system of how she makes her Freeds last a month with Pointe Shoe Shellac. She shellacs them, lets them dry overnight and then repeats the next night before dancing in them. That and rotating three pairs makes her shoes last a month! #tipsandtricks #pointeshoes

dear @orpheumdanceprogram , I had the most wonderful time dancing in Cinderella and meeting all of these wonderful dancers and actors! I think this production made me grow as a person and learn how to work with people I’ve never met before. Thank you @vicodpdiva for all the wonderful rehearsals, even if some were accidentally 1 on 1 haha! I appreciate @thetruelevian for being the sweetest partner and mini choreographer as well as @sydney.hensonn for being the most beautiful Cinderella ever! It was an absolute pleasure meeting and getting to work alongside them. This was quite the beautiful performance, thank you everyone!

I had the honor to be appointed as the director of the Union City–hosted Spring Ballet Gala. This marked my third time directing a city-sponsored ballet event. After the show, I heard that audience members came up to the organizers to compliment the performance and ask about my ballet school and future productions. Just hearing that made all the effort worthwhile—bringing joy to the audience is the greatest reward. Ayano and Akira, who came all the way from Washington DC, were truly outstanding. Not only are they exceptional dancers, but they are also wonderful people. That’s why I always want to work with them, though I did feel guilty having them make such a demanding trip. Watching their performance filled me with so many emotions that I had to hold back tears. From the Joffrey Ballet, of course, the students who is currently staying with me performed. Everyone was fantastic. Their hard work in daily training truly showed. I hope they continue gaining stage experience to build their future. Hideki, a 16-year-old I’ve been supporting recently, came from Japan with no English skills and reminds me of my younger self. I now teach him not only ballet but also English. He is working tirelessly toward his dreams and is supported by many wonderful teachers. He also performed great and made audience excited. And my own students—they are still developing in terms of experience and years in ballet. However, this gala is, in essence, professional work. Even though they are my students, I wanted them to approach it with a professional mindset, so I guided them strictly right up until the performance. They truly gave it their all. This time, I could just focus on my role as director, but I added a small touch of entertainment—an almost improvised performance with 4 students. I hope we added a bit of humor within classical ballet repertoires. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the dancers, my students and their parents, the staff, NY Dance Artistry Teachers and the volunteers who made this performance possible. And to my husband, who always supports me, and my son, who is only 5 years old and stack in the theatre all day—thank you so much.
