I spoke on my first panel, The Edit: A Young Adult Panel

I used to speak in college, and it felt great to use my voice again, to share, to inspire, to galvanize.

Thanks to @jadathompsonnn & @urbaanitenashville for allowing me to join this moment. It was an honor to converse with beautiful voices of the city. Grateful to everyone who came, shared, and organized The Edit.

love this city, my city, our city

I’d like to extend immense gratitude to every single person who came out to the Nashville Women in Jazz jam series over the past 5 months and to @sangtuarynashville for hosting us!

This series marked a groundbreaking moment for @nashvillewomeninjazz, being the first of its kind; blending a celebration of talent, education, networking, resource sharing, and community building.

We thank @metroartsnash and the Thrive grant that made this possible, with special thanks to Director Daniel Singh and Chuck Beard for prioritizing community outreach; letting me know this grant was available for projects such as this one.

Through the series, we were able to compensate 38 artists and community members. Additionally, we commissioned 5 composers from Nashville Women in Jazz to write arrangements of jazz standards, which will be recorded on a future compilation album.

We look forward to securing more grants to continue supporting and nurturing the vibrant jazz scene in Nashville; making sure history recognizes the contributions of women, non-binary, and other marginalized musicians in Nashville.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting our mission to foster an inclusive, thriving jazz community.

Yours in community,
Alayna

I loved the editorial vibes of this moody, artistic shoot. Jordan’s creative direction was on point, and the addition of the camera was the perfect prop to bring it all together. Visual storytelling in motion. More to come!

Sometimes three lights is all you need. Here’s a simple breakdown of some interviews I shot with @sonofthelights.

I was told early on when I began my career in cinematography that you need to learn to light an interview with just 3 or 4 lights. As long as the fixtures are flexible enough and you have the right support/modifiers you’ll be golden.

“They desire the ocean, without the awful roar of its mighty waters. This struggle may be a moral one or it may be a physical one or it may be both moral and physical; but, there must be a struggle.” Rev. Albert Cleage

My birthday is tomorrow and God has me producing a documentary with @benimbleco & @weliketopardi this week. In 2019 @jeff.dreams allowed us to share the story and now we are back at it again! 🎬

Special thanks to one of the best in in the city @prxperstandards for the assist. 🎥

Can’t wait to put this together. This will be apart of a @yourgoodstories revamp & @the1849creative is behind the magic.
