Are custom fishing rods worth the investment? My thoughts on a custom casting rod made by @sonoranrods

Wow. @sonoranrods sent me a first look at the custom fishing rod he’s building for me and I’m speechless.

I reached out wanting a custom casting rod for my kayak setup that’s a little shorter to help with comfortably netting fish in the kayak but also with a higher end blank and handle.

I gave him some general thoughts on the aesthetic, and from the pictures it looks like he knocked it out of the park.

Can’t wait to see it in person, make that first cast, and catch that first bass. 🎣

Check out his work! He does fully custom rods but also has a few lines of off-the-shelf rods.

I personally have the 6’6” medium light Cerus travel Rod and it’s quickly become my preferred finesse fishing rod for my pond and kayak fishing. You’ve probably seen it in my recent videos!

I highly recommend you check out Sonoran Rods - they’re all handmade made by the owner here in the USA. He also does fully custom rods where he live streams the builds - I’m planning to order one soon. Let me know if there’s interest in seeing it built on livestream!
