Every property is built around the idea that parents and children should be able to play, explore, and adventure together, with thoughtful touches like spacious rooms, free activities, and kid-friendly dining that take the stress out of family travel. RISONARE Yatsugatake takes all of that and sets it high in the highlands at the foot of the Yatsugatake mountains, just about two hours from Tokyo, a whole resort designed to feel like a village tucked into the Italian Alps. Food was definitely a highlight. This corner of Yamanashi is Japan's fruit-and-wine country, famous for its grapes and prized Koshu wine, sun-ripened peaches, and crisp vegetables grown in the clean mountain air, and the buffet was overflowing with all of it. Every meal was so delicious! The kids loved the giant wave pool with its forest-themed water play area, and the treetop ropes course and zip line winding through the pines. Best of all, they spent hours each day at the activity center, taking a cooking class and making all kinds of crafts. And after years of saying she wanted to try, umma finally checked pottery making off her bucket list, shaping her very own cup to carry home.
