Mustelidae on a Misty day

| The #Yellow Throated #Martin |

Some fifteen years ago , two dear friends of mine , went on their maiden trip to the heavenly
' #Corbett National Park '

I happen to meet one of them in Bharatpur during our birding excursion.

Animatedly , while sharing the treasures of their trip , my friend
had a unique description of a creature unknown to me at that time.

He was dragging out the body of a full grown male Sambhar deer out of Ramganga !

🤔 He went like:

" this fellow had a triangular head .. yellowish neck.. slender body .. thick long tail ..

I was like "Arre , it must've been a jungle cat .." ( dragging a full grown sambhar !?! 😬 )

The conversation continued , and at its last came the word , it was a :
" #Martin "
their driver Shri Girish Dhamana identified .

On our trips to the park , a couple of times we've been watching this animal cross our trails in a jiffy

Cut to last winter on a chilly November morning; the park was filled with thick fog emerging out of the ramganga river. Those Deu drops fell like precious gems off the Giant Sal Tree leaves.. ( we have just missed a tiger sighting by moments 😸 !

Rolling over forward... & Da !!

we had another opportunity to capture this animal in camera !
Not one but two !
And at the very spot our friends saw him for the first time : Sambhar Road !

Out on a hunt , these two were coordinating a kill & had their eyes at something in the bushes.

A super clever carnivore , the agile hunter with electric speeds it can devour birds mammals and whatever it could kill
