yappin about the script to page process (how I wrote a slasher for adaptation)

A peek at this week's pages of Dead of Night and how the writing is just as much influenced by the visuals as the other way around. Sometimes you can't be precious and gotta let your scene become what it wants to be

My resolution last New Year was to finish projects in 2024, and that did not happen 😂 What did happen, however, was that I found a life outside of my work and regained a healthier sense of self 😌 I learned new things, tried new hobbies, and was present for all the “life” happening around me — for love, loss, and lots of green 🌱🌷☀️

That isn’t to say I didn’t make a lot of work — I had a pretty productive year BUT a fair chunk of the work I made is either in progress, shelved/tossed, or otherwise not shareable because of the format or medium or just because posting is too much work 😂

Thanks for a good year, Instagram pals, even if I’ve largely been AFK 🙊 Here’s to another year of existing 🥂💕

(Jan and Feb are missing bc nothing happened 😂)
(Also posting today because I work tomorrow 🐣)

Got some new zines to sell at @pasadenaartwalk this weekend!

“Window Taps” is a collab zine with some of my friends exploring the different boogeyman figures that pop up in folklore around the world! I wrote a short story in there about Kaupe, known as the Hawaiian werewolf. There’s also some great illustration and poetry work in there from my buds, so swing by to check it out! 👻👻

“Alchemy Lessons #1” is the first installment of a riso comic series I’m making! It follows a lil alchemy apprentice as he experiences all the excitement (and challenges) of leaving home to learn from greenwork, runecraft, and the school of life. 🌱💫

Exhibition Opening Event
ECHOES: EYE ON BERLIN
Saturday, 26/8/23
18:00-20:00h

aquabitArt galerie
Auguststraße 35
10119 Berlin-Mitte
Germany

2023’s New Eye on Berlin Study Away project is inspired by the echoes of Berlin’s tumultuous past, still resonating throughout the city.

Working out of ArtCenter’s Archetype Press, Illustration students have produced a series of themed letterpress prints that comprise a 12-print folio. Special acknowledgement goes to faculty/alumni
Seth Drenner (BFA 04) for guiding the students through the age-old printmaking process. Along with the featured edition, the exhibition will include the show and sale of unique collectibles, zines, wearables and products offered by the participating artists.

This event promises to be a lively and inspiring evening. The event is open to all. We hope to see you there!
