On the 2nd of May, Disability Society left the SU Ball winners of the 'Most Inclusive Society' award! I absolutely love being a part of this society! Joining this society was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my university life! Meeting and making memories with these wonderful people has been joyous and I can't wait to see what we do next year!

Huge shout out to Emma White for putting this society together and creating a safe space for people to be themselves! Thank you 💙

March but the context marched off 😅

Last photo was taken by @calise.roma on the set of 'For No Good Reason'. The photo features a sign I made for the production design :))

Hi, my name is Sophie. I am a Counselling and Psychotherapy student at the University of Salford. This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, so I wanted to share some things as someone with autism.

There are a lot of assumptions about autism, many of them can be quite upsetting, especially in this period where everything is broadcasted on social media. I am still getting used to understanding myself, as I was not diagnosed until I was 20, and I am still getting used to the stigma and ignorance surrounding autism. But this does not mean that I, or anyone with autism, should have to accept them. The way I see it, we’re all human at the end of the day and even though people with autism or any kind of neurodiversity might see/act/experience things differently, it does not make us any less valid or anymore ‘difficult’ than the ‘average person’. (notice the use of quotation marks here). The world we live in does not always make accommodations for neurodiverse people, but still we’ve all made it to where we are today despite that, and I think that’s really awesome. You’re allowed to feel mixed about being Neurodiverse. Sometimes I do feel sad, but also my autism is part of what makes me, me - and I’m okay with that.

The message I leave for anyone who is neurodiverse is this: you have achieved so much more than you think. You are more resilient than you think. You are allowed to feel how you feel, just don’t let those negative feelings overshadow the rest 🫶
