Not a single day goes by where I don’t think about boarding the MV World Odyssey. A year ago today, I made the best decision of my life. I love you forever 136 🫂🌍

All aboard!! These 2 USD students set sail on Semester at Sea together as roommates in fall 2025 🚢 @shannon_murphy6 is a biochemistry major and @katelynlinaugh is a neuroscience major!

“One whole year since I did quite literally the coolest thing I’ll ever do!!! 🥲🌎🚢 I’m still so thankful every day that I took the chance on Semester at Sea. I got to visit 12 countries, experience places I never thought I’d get to see, and somehow call a ship my home for four months. As awesome as all of that was, the best part will always be the people I met along the way. I feel extra lucky that some of my best friends from the ship are now people I still get to see walking around USD every day.

I think about my time abroad allllll the time, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m forever grateful to USD for giving me the opportunity to see so much of the world, meet some of my favorite people, and have an experience that shaped me in ways I’m still realizing a year later. If you’re thinking about going abroad, DO IT!!! I’m so glad I did”

“Semester at Sea was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am so grateful for the time I spent on the MV World Odyssey. From riding camels through the Sahara Desert to exploring the Taj Mahal, I was constantly surrounded by new experiences and cultures. It was such a unique experience learning in a classroom and then being able to actually see and experience the subjects firsthand in our field classes. In my marketing class, we went to Global Mamas, a local Ghanaian business, to visit their production facility and brainstorm ways for them to market to university students in the United States. While the never-ending excursions were incredible, the people I met on Semester at Sea were truly what made my time abroad so unforgettable. I have made lifelong friends that all share the same passion for travel and adventure. It’s already been a year since we embarked, but I really do still think about it every day. I can say with complete confidence that deciding to go on Semester at Sea was the best decision I have ever made”
