Here are my highlights from the Goodwood summer series on Tuesday. Super fast racing in super hot conditions. A long video but hopefully some useful stuff in there! #goodwood

A bit of fun for me in the first lap at the @racingclubravenna Goodwood summer series last night. Chain off and a chase back on to cook my legs for the next 20 minutes! Enjoying getting back into racing and training again. Always great to race with the @bpcflowbiort guys and have an opportunity to coach from within the bunch.

Something no one tells you is that your bike can irritate disc issues, sciatica and cause horrendous pain!

What would cause your hips to shift to the right.. your left shoulder and back to stiffen up... One leg doing all of the work.

Well we figured it out. Martin came in on a recommendation from him Physio.

One ride is all it took, he knew it during the ride that his back had gone.

The culprit, his saddle! Dropped to the left, causing him to push his sitbone back on the left, reach and stiffen up in the left shoulder and lower back. Right hip was therefore more forwards and became quad dominant.

These asymmetries happen all the time. Not because of the rider. Because of compensation. My job is to help you get back to riding pain free.

Martin says, his first bike fit of his life saved his riding days. Without it he wouldn't have been back to big distance rides and without pain!

As the 2025 Slipstream season comes to a close, we want to say a huge thank you to all our event and season partners who helped make this year possible.

Your support, collaboration, and enthusiasm have been at the heart of every ride — we truly couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you for being part of our brilliant community. Here’s to an even better 2026! 🚴‍♂️

Your bike needs to match your body and not the other way around.

I am very lucky that I get to help people who are not getting the most jut of their bike or body sometimes, or they aren't able to cycle without pain.

In September a Physio friend sent me a message with a client he is referring to me to check his bike fit is accommodating their body.

Our client had stopped cycling (had cycled 16'000k the year before) due to pain on the bike. Knee pain is what put a stop to his cycling but his back and shoulder were also a problem. Going from 330k weeks to struggling with a 30k ride. Incredibly debilitating.

A new saddle solved the pelvic stability that his old one was lacking, as well as it not being level! More on this with another post.

Saddle height reduction to have both his sitbones evenly on the saddle. Advise for homework was to create better asymmetric movement through his hips, and posterior chain (hamstrings and glutes).

Follow up yesterday and our client had bought a new bike based on my sizing advice. He is already back up to doing 100k rides without pains!

Not everyone's pain goes away this fast but it's quite common for your bike to be forgotten about when we get pains.

• single sided pain - possiblity rotated pelvis
• pain in your knees - check saddle height and the saddle is level
• check to make sure your body has the mobility to match that of the bike you ride and if not come up with a progressive plan to meet the demands of what you need
• when things aren't stable in the right areas, other areas have to pick up the slack. This can show as feeling you are working hard but not getting the output you expect

Book in for a fit if you're seeing a physio Hi mate. Passing on a guy called blank to you who I saw this morning. He’s going to give you a ring to get booked in for a fit. He’s an interesting chap with a 14 mm short left leg, left side of this prolapse at L5/S1 With a really strange presentation of a stiff sacroiliac joint however hypermobile knees and ankles!

It was great to welcome Simon Orr from SoPhysical (@sophysicalphysiotherapy) to the Ortho Surgical Skills Centre this week to discuss training and learning opportunities for allied healthcare professionals.

We’ve got some exciting plans in development to support ongoing medical education and deliver better patient outcomes and we look forward to sharing these with you later in the year.

Getting the volume in

Feeling more comfortable stringing sets of these together.

Important to get enough sets and frequency in the week for improving strength. Not just intensity alone.

Focusing on getting stronger in the bottom of the squat. Work to do for longer arms

May try to challenge the 💯 again. See how things go

A few weeks ago, Neurodiversity Action Charity approached us to help set up inclusive training sessions at SoPhysical’s gym, and it’s been amazing so far! 💙

Neurodiverse individuals often face sensory, social, and structural barriers in gyms, from bright lights and loud noises to unwritten social rules and lack of tailored support. These sessions create a welcoming, accessible spacewhere everyone can feel confident and included.

📅 We run these every Saturday at 11:15 AM. Join us tomorrow if you’re interested! Thanks to Matt for showing off his moves from the first week, with our fantastic trainer Geoff leading the way! 🙌💪

Last week's free evening information session focused on Fibromyalgia 🌟 with Simon Orr, lead Physiotherapist at Sophysical, and Jacqui Mayes, Nutritional Therapist at The Open Practice.

✨ Favorite comment of the night: 'It’s nice just to have a space where we are believed, heard, and given options for different treatments.'

Andrew also popped in to share a psychological perspective and insights into vagus nerve therapies that could help. 💆‍♀️💡

Nice to finish the season at the Majorca masters with the team, trying to find my road racing legs! 5 races in 6 days days wasn’t the smartest move after 5 years out 🥵 but good fun with a great bunch of guys! Thanks for the support/ bottles/ videos @liffeyd will be back, probably. 😂

Annual trip to Mallorca for the Mallorca Masters and @bpcflowbiort coming out with a bigger squad. Another one that we were treated to good weather and good racing. Now we are done with the racing, done with multiple trips to the buffet.

We had a proper giggle too! Thanks to the squad @robotniks734 @kenstagram86 @mattconner123 @sophysicalphysiotherapy @liffeyd @capt_darling and @chrishallrides

🫡…until next year!
