Sora’s [ @soraxer ] journey began in the rural landscape of southern Germany. Faced with a lack of creative infrastructure, they moved to Berlin back in 2018 to cultivate a style that balances fragility with beauty. In 2023 they moved to Vienna to study fine arts in University.

The motivation to tattoo was born from a place of trauma. After a negative experience at eighteen left them with physical scarring and a sense of body dysmorphia, Sora felt driven to create a safer, more intentional alternative.

Sora’s work is a cornerstone of the “cyber tribal” movement, a blend of futuristic computer-driven details and biomechanical organisms.

Their approach to placement is deeply rooted in tribalism, using layouts that flow naturally with the body’s anatomy. Sora’s freehand research has helped set the tone for what has now become a mainstream standard in futuristic tattooing.

Inspiration is drawn from the immersive worlds of video games like Skyrim and Halo, as well as the dark surrealism of masters like H.R. Giger and Yoshitaka Amano. However, the most vital part of the process remains the collaboration with the client.

Sora specializes in treating the tattoo as a way to address complex emotions that words cannot reach, a gamble of finding the perfect design that bridges the gap between digital art and living skin.

Currently, Sora is focused on establishing a legacy outside the “euro-gothic” scene, working closely with their community at Holocyberia. Alongside colleagues and inspirations like @endofthewor1d and @tvirrr, they are building a unique world of dark and gloomy aesthetics, incorporating music, video, and new technologies to realize a truly futuristic vision of tattooing.

Sora’s message to the world: “Its nice to inspire each other on the internet. but real life is different in every city.”
