There are so many reasons to be proud to be from Puerto Rico, and it showed in everyone we met and every place we went. In the little slice we were lucky enough to experience, we found incredible food, rich culture, unforgettable music, and a shared love of basketball—all rooted in an unmistakable sense of Puerto Rican identity.
•
A very special thank you to our amazing friends on the island, who welcomed us with open arms and their Boricua spirit, and made the trip one we’ll never forget.

For this release of the Legacy Collection, I wanted to tell more of our family’s connection to the heavens, the sea and to how we honor those who loved us first, and we hope to see again.

With new colorways such as “Seraph”, that represents the vastness of the heavens,“Tide Lace” represents the depths of the sea, Tanbou and Lavender Serenade, this collection’s colors were crafted to allow our homes to feel as warm as a grandmother’s embrace . . . much like that of my - now - late grandmother, Lucille . . . the only grandmother I had the blessing of knowing.

As far as the colors Polly, Titi, Danya and Minnie - those are all nicknames my dad gave to his sisters, the four aunts who taught our family how to love ourselves as beautifully as we are, the four aunts who are now honored in this collection, the four daughters of Lucille who have joined her in their collective rest from this world.

The colors that accompany their names represent the colors with which their spirits illuminated my life.

To all of the gorgeous, powerful, soft and nurturing women of my family who gifted us with understanding, strength, creativity and . . . love, this collection is in your honor . . . so that through your legacy, the joy you gave me can live on beautifully in this world.

✍🏽 MEET THE PRODUCERS 🎥

Colt Kozal is an independent producer by way of the Chicago suburbs, New York City and now Los Angeles, which he insists is his one and true home. He is a graduate of NYU and AFI who’s worked on various production roles in projects like The Avengers to HBO’s The Deuce and Prime’s Sneaky Pete. He earned an MFA in Producing from AFI with his films screening at festivals worldwide and winning at DGA Student Film Awards and Palm Springs ShortFest. He has produced 3 feature-length films and is currently in development on features.

Sonia Rivera is a Puerto Rican producer with experience in various types of projects. She’s worked with companies such as Paramount Plus, A24, Showtime, HBO, Anonymous Content and more. She’s worked on short films such as the LALIFF Inclusion Fellowship’s Daughter of the Sea, Bad Bunny’s Debí TiRAR MáS FOToS and most recently Imago - a horror short film which was a part of Monkeypaw and Universal’s Inaugural Inclusion Program, NO DRAMA. She is currently working as a producer on the iHeart podcast, “Welcome to El Barrio” and a short film set to shoot in Puerto Rico this spring.

Juan J. Arroyo is a Puerto Rican screenwriter & music journalist. He has written extensively for various publications such as Rolling Stone, L.A. Times, Complex and Remezcla and was the co-writer of Nuevo Rico, which won the SXSW ‘21 Jury Award for Best Animated Short. In 2025 he co-produced the horror short Imago which was chosen by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw and Universal Pictures for their inaugural NO DRAMA Initiative and premiered at Toronto Int’l Film Festival ‘25. He is currently based in Puerto Rico.
