i found macraweave and i’m staying here🤓 ideas are coming to me in the middle of the night.
colors, textures, sizes; i’m having fun choosing and using the yarns and fabrics i’ve been collecting along our travels.
my hands aren’t working quite as fast as i’d like to see all the visions real, but i haven’t been this excited and looking forward to something i’ve created in awhile, & to see where this vision goes.. 🔮🎧 do it crying, do it dancing… just,
“stay committed… stay focused… “🪄

asmr salsa-making & the he(art) of cooking.. 💛
i loved watching the ladies of my family cook and eventually the food network shows i’d assist my mom watching, all led me to culinary school in chicago. i ebbed and flowed away from cooking in survival mode after my husband died, but as an adult it has always consistently provided levels of comfort beyond satiating hunger. art involving all senses. meditating on mise en place. baking anxiety away. i’m grateful i’ve come to understand the culinary arts and food the ways i have, and continue to learn and provide in this fundamental way. food, and creating nourishing meals ..is.. art.

I’ve taught myself the he(art) of macramé for almost 3 years, but have been curious for knots and cord work since childhood, seeing macramé all over my grandma’s walls.
During the final semesters of grad school, I continued learning macramé as a creative outlet, escape from the often doomy and gloomy of social work academia and also, my own personal grief.
I use(d) it to meditate and quiet my anxieties. Making things always makes sense, and has always made sense to me at times of feeling exhausted by or lost or less than in the world.
Art is not just for those who call themselves artists, it is for all of us to use as a coping tool. Making and creating, I think, reminds us of what we’re capable of even if it’s small, even if we’re still learning it, even if it sucks (at first).
I remember my grandma having the macramé all over her house but it was an owl I loved. We don’t have any of these, since her death so long ago the items were all donated or sold which broke my heart to learn, but somehow it makes me feel whole and grounded, in my connection to her, to do this and, makes most sense to do. I hope this to be a representation and offering of how I continue to alchemize all of my life & experiences🔮💫🦉⏳#knotart #macramé

so long, 2024, an overflowing full year of incredible inspiration💫… we spent so much of our extracirric time together hiking and road travel and getting out there and touching grass and sand and red rocks🌱 thanxo for the …ethereal forest hikes in the pnw, beach walks & sunsets, park rendezvous, snow covered trails in the rockies, stomping the stunning red trails of sedona, the once-in-my-lifetime october aurora borealis show in NM, niagara falls lights at night, the eternal flame hike in NY, driving to first sunlight in acadia, and ending the fullest year, overflowing and looking so enthusiastically and lovingly into our future…💛 from our favorite place in all the land, the smokies. my heart and hands and soul are full of the biggest love and gratitude, and creative plans for the year ahead… happy new year 🔮✨
