Today is my birthday and I remember when I was turning 23 I thought that I had nothing left to wish for but peace of mind and boy was I WRONG. I’m 27 now and I have so much more to wish for and work towards and create and celebrate and giggle at and cry about.

This past January I quit my full time job in tech and dove headfirst into pursuing life as an artist - teaching ceramics and painting and selling my work and learning learning learning learning learning. I am a woman learning. It was scary but it was right. Now, my life looks like always being near a body of water and building my own community in a place where I hardly knew anyone and devouring books about and by people who inspire me and driving up and down the country and spending as much time as possible in awe and as much time as possible laughing. It looks like growing my own food and baking my own bread and making the dutch oven that I bake my bread in and learning to tattoo and oversharing at work because I love my coworkers and riding my skateboard up and down the street and pretending that I’m surfing. It looks like dreaming BIGGER and being afraid and doing it anyways. It looks like being inspired instead of being envious. Once when I was very depressed and unsure of myself, my brother asked me “but aren’t you so excited about the endless opportunities that await you?”. Finally the answer is hell fucking yeah.

Today I am thankful for my friends and my family and paint and clay and gardens and dancing and reading and solitude and rivers and worms and the ocean and many places to call home and a room of my own that allows me to keep becoming myself. I wish I had magical teleportation powers and could get a hug from everyone I love but you’re all over the world!!!
