A child’s room should feel like the best kind of surcee — something special, just for them 🤍

When designing each of my children’s spaces, I included elements that felt timeless, unique and highly functional. You want to give them a space they can grow with and make uniquely theirs as each year passes. 💌

💡 Elevated but fun lamps and wall decor — One of my favorite lamps is the turtle shell lamp in my son’s room! Drawings of fishing lures and framed vintage Holly Hobbie embroidered patterns are a few examples of fun wall decor.

📚 Some type of shelving. This is obviously extremely functional for displaying books, toys and any meaningful items. I knew I wanted an antique wicker shelf in my daughter’s room and loved the fun green paint we added to it!

☁️ Accent pillows in fun patterns or colors that still feel polished. In my older kids’ rooms, I was able to use the same pillows with their current bedding as I had in their nursery — and I see no problem with these growing into teen and even adult years.

🛏️ Furniture pieces that feel sophisticated but can easily become functional and personalized by adding in toys and fun accessories!

Designing rooms for growing boys is always a fun challenge, as we want the space to reflect their current stage, but also grow with them. For this sweet boy’s room, we selected a tonal striped wallpaper by @fabricut with accents or navy, orange and red.
