Did you catch us on Discover Lafayette? How about in the Advocate?

Baton Rouge Underground’s own Jenika Kolacz and Kelly Swift were featured on the Louisiana local podcast Discover Lafayette, along side Southern Screens own Julie Bordelon. The creatives chatted about the film industry in Louisiana and what is to come from both festivals.

We are so excited to see you this fall!

• ‘good time hard-loving cajun man’ : a documentary on t.k. hulin, directed by lucy henke, will have an encore screening presented by @southernscreen at 6pm tomorrow evening at @acadianacenterforthearts after a sold-out premiere in november, with q&a to follow

eschewing national fame on mercury records in favor of down-home appreciation in the 60s, t.k. hulin hooked thousands of dancehall denizens throughout nightclubs along the south louisiana + east texas gulf coast alongside b-lou, his brother and drummer of 51 years, while gaining a cult-like following of adoring fans who revere him to this day - and now remains undaunted by a rare progressive disease that may one day rob him of his voice

I had the pleasure of editing this historic piece of swamp pop magic last fall, with an incredible selection of archival material - its premiere had the loudest audience I’ve ever experienced in a theater : come laugh and cry with us tomorrow : ticket link in bio

Erin & Donny’s film Arson is having such a great festival run they have to be in Austin right now so I’ve been entrusted to rep the film and hand out these Koozies for them at todays 11:30 showing for @southernscreen . It’s a great great film and I’m lucky to have been a small part*, but I think we’re all lucky to have such an incredible supportive and talented filmmaking couple who includes us all, supports us, and provides us with incredible opportunities. Come see Arson, it’s good. Get a koozie, itll keep yout drink cool.

*I was a glorified human c-stand on the project - boom op.

• ‘disappearing act’ will be making its film festival debut at @southernscreen in the music shorts block this evening, nov 13 @ 6pm with q&a to follow : tickets for @acadianacenterforthearts + virtual ticket link in bio

we shot this music video in the heat of august 2023 between grand coteau + arnaudville and edited over the majority of last year ::: working with @teddy_lamson as director has been such a blessing within the process - grateful to her for pushing me on set + in the editing room, allowing me to tend to every frame while trusting me to alchemize her vision :: holding the space with @juliekodell and her brilliant music after numerous visual collaborations over the last six years was again effortlessly easy despite the immense effort we all put in to this intense project - grateful for her sweet grounding energy forever :: this video wouldn’t have been physically possible without the help of @bruisey_peets rigging up lights etc for the two long days, sharing his ancestral land, and being our hands + support when we needed :: very grateful to syd for also stepping up to help get our takes right + @potatokiln for use of his truck and historic barn, the location of the pony express of grand coteau in the 1800s

making art with your friends is truly the most satisfying practice, making the release that much sweeter years in the making - I feel like we all needed this project when it presented itself, working through so much individually since and here we are 180 degrees later

• across the quiet : a short documentary from @ordinaryelephant will be opening @southernscreen in the music shorts block this evening, nov 13 @ 6pm with q&a to follow : tickets for @acadianacenterforthearts + virtual ticket link in bio

it was @dirkpowellofficial’s idea : crystal + pete, known as @ordinaryelephant, connected with him to produce + engineer their self-titled record and were looking for someone to document their process + story of their path up to this point, leading him to introduce me + syd ::: we dove in to dirk’s cypress studio on the bayou teche, down the road from our beloved lake martin, for ten days with them in october 2022 - being present with the magic that manifests with creating a record live while witnessing the magic of crystal + pete’s process in creative collaboration, being a married couple

grateful for this exploration of relationship + artistic expression within these stunning songs, which I also got to photograph + design the visuals for on their double lp + cd released last year

awarded best louisiana film this past january from @cotbfilmfest + screened in montreal this past february at @folk_alliance
