Now announcing our open call for the William Way LGBT Community Center’s 21st Annual Juried Art Exhibition, which will be held January 15th to February 20th, 2027 at Space 1026! This opportunity is free to apply to and participate in and open to LGBTQIA+ Philadelphia-area artists who are 18 and over. Additionally, there are $1,200 in awards! Don't miss the deadline on Sunday, November 15th, 2026 at 11:59PM. Swipe through to learn more! ➡️✨️ The William Way LGBT Community Center’s Annual Juried Art Exhibition is the longest running annual LGBTQ+ art exhibition in the Philadelphia region. Each year, a notable artist or curator is selected to serve as juror and choose three Juror Award recipients, who are also featured in the Annual Group Art Exhibition in the following months. The exhibition facilitates community-building between an intergenerational group of LGBTQ+ artists who demonstrate an exciting range of creative practices. The in-person exhibition is complemented by an online virtual exhibition, where artworks are available for sale, connecting LGBTQ+ artists with a network of collectors and community members seeking to support and engage with their artwork. This year we are excited to have Qualeasha Wood serve as juror! Qualeasha Wood (b. 1996, Long Branch, NJ), is a Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary artist whose work contemplates realities around black female ontology that do and might exist. Inspired by a familial relationship to textiles, queer craft, Microsoft Paint and internet avatars Wood's tufted and tapestry pieces mesh traditional craft and contemporary technological materials. Space 1026 will serve as the host of the 21st Annual Juried Art Exhibition. Founded in 1997, Space 1026 is headquarters for a network of artists who want to do it their own way, together. Their new home at 844 North Broad Street hosts a gallery for exhibitions and performances, member studios, print facilities, a woodshop, and a garden. The exhibition is free to apply to and participate in, and there is $1,200 in awards, including 3 recipients of our Juror Award, receiving $300 each, and 3 recipients of our Arts Committee Award, receiving $100 each. JUMBLED DUMP PART 2 ——— Still sorting through photos from Memphis and Asheville so here’s Philly instead! We rolled into town late afternoon and headed straight to @space1026 to set up for our show with the MIGHTY EVIL SWORD Ben and Kate are two of our favorite artists and getting to share the stage with them was dreamy! @evilsvvord doesn’t really go west of the Mississippi so we have to go to them. And that’s totally fine. Despite like 1000 other @fringearts shows happening that night we pulled a decent crowd and even had someone draw a comic strip about the show-thanks @izzytrueforever and you’ve definitely inspired us to create a Chick Tract companion to our next show! We crashed at the Evil Sword compound and then I got lost in a torrential downpour the next morning trying to find the van, which was 2 blocks away. Hey Philly-get some awnings before we come back next time!!
