A little recap of last Friday @jekerjazz_maastricht . Much love to everyone who came through to dance and hang out.

Shout out to Willem and @zondagmaastricht for the trust and for creating a space where we have the freedom to play music that rarely gets the chance to be heard elsewhere. Big up to Bobby aka Planty Herbs @spacegrapesrecords for joining me once again. It was a journey filled with moments of connection and joy.

Having a place in Maastricht where this is possible is a true blessing ❤️✨❤️

Jéroboam - Freakshow
Space Grapes (SGP005)
Netherlands, 2022

Parisian funk band, Jéroboam, delivers an 11 minute journey into raw, groove-heavy disco with Freakshow.
It captures the energy of a live funk session while drawing on the spirit of late 70s disco. This track is a reminder that disco doesn’t need to be polished to get people moving. Sometimes the rawer the groove, the better.

This project was released on Space Grapes, an artist-run label founded by Bobby van Putten and Danilo Plessow (aka Motor City Drum Ensemble). The label harbors an organic, analog-driven approach to disco, funk and soul, dedicated to contemporary live music.

Pure boogie funk from the @anothertaste_ collective. @spacegrapesrecords doesn’t miss often, but this release is still the benchmark for me. Turned me into a fan straight away when I first heard it.

It sounds like it’s been teleported straight out of 1981, right down to the slightly muffled mix/mastering... But somehow that adds to the charm.
The B-side is on the same level too. Released on Bobby van Putten & @daniloplessow_mcde ‘s Space Grapes imprint

This month’s #LATENIGHTBIGNESS Ep #98 is now on @mixcloud . LINK IN BIO
I had the pleasure of being joined @onair_1btn HiFi bar by the marvelous @soundsofharris AKA Marley Harris.
We played 3 hrs of boogie, folk, soul, broken beat, deep house, electronica, and disco live on @1btnradio
Marley has his own show on 1BTN, and his own Fortune Of War residency ‘Off The Hook’. He’s all over Insta with his excellent, entertaining and informative ‘On The Flip’ music posts. And he’s put in star turns at @cafe_1001 for @daydream_disco and an epic next gen show with @saintlukez @the_bbe_store as part of the Make House Deep Again movement.
We go through all the gears, across all the generations and genres. It’s a goodie.
Enjoy!
