🎨 SFF ARTIST APPRECIATION 🎨
Welcome to another edition of my artist/designer spotlight series, where I spread the love for my favorite creatives in the SFF space.

This time I’m shouting out my friend @jeffbrown_graphics, hands down one of the best artists around. Every piece Jeff creates is so evocative, with characters and environments that always feel alive, as well as typography that perfectly compliments his artwork. He also has the most experimental imagination of any artist I’ve worked with, as is evident by the insane-yet-beautiful art he created for The Book of Spores. Don’t hesitate to hire Jeff, cause he’ll exceed every expectation you have.

🎨 Jeff Brown Covers, Part 2 📚

I told y’all I would be back, so here I am with the next batch of indie books featuring @jeffbrown_graphics covers.

Again, Jeff is the MVP. He truly does amazing work in bringing a book to life with his artistry.

What’s your favorite cover from this batch?

P.S. Including Miles on here because TPoF technically started as an indie before being pick up by Saga Press last month! And his cover is just way too good not to include in the batch.

💫 Book Review 💫

Elements of Time by @spaisleyauthor

This was an absolute chunk of debut novels but the pace was mostly kept fast enough throughout that it wasn’t that noticeable. If you’re looking for a fun blend of fantasy and sci-fi with good character dynamics then look no further! With plenty of worldbuilding, twists and action.

We follow two MCs Cooper and Reid, who are just weeks away from graduating when their lives get turned into chaos. After an encounter with a mysterious man they're pulled into different worlds and forced to master new abilities, weapons, elemental creatures and an unknown enemy out to get them. The world-building is interesting with a mix of advanced tech, ancient gods and magic. The friendship between Cooper and Reid works really well and the companions bring a touch of charm to the story.

Sam kindly gifted a copy of the audiobook for this, the narration was great and kept me engaged throughout. If you are an audiobook reader then I’d recommend this one.

A solid debut novel with a great start to the series and definitely an indie read worth checking out and putting on your TBR!

📚 Books as Pokemon: Vol 2 🐦‍🔥

There was some love for the books and Pokemon hybrid post yesterday, and I got quite a few requests from people asking if I can pair their books with a card.

I took a handful of those requests and also threw in a few of my own for a lil part two. Maybe a part three will come of it.

Also sorry @luke_schulz_author, I know you weren’t a fan of Spiritomb, but it was just so fitting.

Also @aaronn.hall selected Lickitung for his book in case people start asking questions.

June wrap up!

A bit of a chaotic month for me! Tying to catch up on some arcs, starting the Summer Reading Challenge with the @indiefantasyaddicts fb page, work being insanely busy and general mayhem in my personal life!

Hell of a great reading month though! Both indie and trad gave me some banger titles.

As always, my favs tended toward dark dramatic worlds and characters on the morally gray side!

A special shout out to @mikesroberti and @michaelwebbnovels because somehow I left off your books on my wrap up graphic!
Both The Traitors We Are and Lightbinder were absolutely terrific! I did both on audio which was awesome!

Please pick up our finalist choice for the SPFBO XI contest Of Mages and Makers by Rel Carroll and follow @therealfantasyfaction as we read the all 10 finalists to get to the winner!

**reposting because I caused some confusion. This is my *July* TBR, for upcoming reads, not my June one 🤣🤦🏽‍♂️ I'm sorry for the double tag friends!**

Quite a few of these are pushed from last month so I'm glad I had a lot of wiggle room. Since there's only 15, there's lots of room for working on some of my other challenges in audiobook form. I think I'm pretty full up on physical books.

Do you see yours?

The Honor Anthology (Review).

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

This amazing book is a blend of fantasy and sci-fi short stories that focus on the theme of honor. I enjoyed every single story. Full of action packed adventure, honorable characters, and heart warming moments, there will always be something for everyone to enjoy.

A group of self-published authors worked together to craft this piece of art. I most definitely will be checking out these authors in the future.

Below is my ranking list of favorite to least favorite (though they were all enjoyable).

1.The Woodweaver’s Rose.
2.To First Blood.
3.The Grief Path.
4.(Tie). Discharged. Fatal Methods Optional.
5.No Honor Among Thieves.
6.Barblade the Merciful.
7.Primus.
8.Lore Island
9.Papercut and Portents.
10.OCAM’s Circuit.
11.Rain Alone is Nothing.
12.Fugitive of the Stars.
13.A Martyr’s Honor.
14.(Tie). Luminescent Resolve. The True Purpose of a Thing.
15. The Edges of Honor
16. (Tie) The Leacher. My Water’s Keeper.
17.(Tie) The Forsaken Detour. A Better Name.

(Shout out to my Mom @daniellehullreads for telling me about this book. I would not have gotten it otherwise).
