PEOPLE OF AUCKLAND —— —— come see a wonderful film we made in the 90s called Funny Little Guy which is being screened as part of a suite of local short films (and music videos) for the ongoing Get Shorty event. It must be said that director Christopher Graves stored the 35mm print beautifully, so I hear we are in for a real treat (long live film). There will be drinks afterwards, and I will be in town for all of it: the screening, the schmoozing — this will be a fleeting trip to New Zealand, so I’d love to see you there. August 5th at Hollywood Avondale, doors 6:30pm. Ticket link here: https://bit.ly/hwGETSHORTYSFF

Last year, I had the HUGE privilege of presenting at the Université de Montpellier Paul-Valéry‘s Drawn Literature in Aotearoa New Zealand Colloquium alongside some of the coolest comics people out! And last week…we had our first comics meet up in Tāmaki Makaurau with a bunch of awesome scholars, artists, and publishers!! My paper ‘Making the Invisible, Visible: Visual Narratives and Material Texts in the Asian New Zealand Diaspora’ will be published soon :D Thank you to Lambert Barthélémy and Nelly Gillet for organising the Colloquium - It was AMAZING to connect with comics friends from France! I <3 comics (Sick as tote bag designed by the one and only @rossmurrayillustration)

Really excited to be part of a small, passionate team making a feature film — a horror-comedy called The Onehunga Leaf Blower Massacre. We start shooting in two weeks, can’t wait! There’s also 5 days left on our Boosted if you wanna support or share — link in bio 🤙

Old Leaf Blower Murder is a horror comedy conceived in a fit of rage against—you guessed it—leaf blowers. Born from a 48Hours 2024 team realisation that they had everything needed to make a feature, the film blends absurdist comedy with real-world frustration and heartfelt themes. With a diverse, 20-strong team spanning generations and disciplines, they’re ready to shoot a trailer but need help covering fixed costs—permits, locations, insurance, and more. The team has already dug deep into their own pockets, and now they are reaching out for your support to bring it to life.

What an amazing privilege it was recently to be back with the fam in New Zealand for #Serato25. From being an early adapter to the DJ technology to now being part of such a lovely team of brilliant minds, I consider myself lucky to say the least. Thank you Steve & AJ for your vision and to everyone who has played a pivotal role in making this company so special for a quarter of a century. And of course, thank you DJs. 🩶
