A SPARK ON SWEET AUBURN ⚡️🏙️
Before the highway cut through it, Fortune magazine called Auburn Avenue “the richest Negro street in the world.” The SPARK Innovation Lab is making sure the next generation of Black business owners gets to write the next chapter — on the same street.
Run by Sweet Auburn Works out of the historic Odd Fellows Building at 228 Auburn Avenue, SPARK is a FREE retail incubator for small businesses: real storefront space, technical assistance, funding help, and branding support from SCAD designers.
Right now it’s home to 9 business owners — all Black, African American, or Hispanic, most of them women — selling everything from skincare to coffee to clothing. After a 2025 grant-funded push, sales jumped 4.4X in six months. And not one participant has been lost since the Lab launched.
Got a product and a dream of opening on Auburn? Vendors and brick-and-mortar businesses can apply. This is what preserving Sweet Auburn looks like — one business at a time. ✊🏾

Today we experienced Atlanta through a cultural lens.
As part of Culture on Wheels @cultureonwheelsatl , our Creative Placemaking activation in partnership with @marta_artbound and the Atlanta Streetcar, we explored the stories, businesses, creatives, and community that make this historic @downtownatlanta corridor so special.
Along the way, we visited spaces like @sweetmegoidshop, stopped by @beonedgewood checked out local galleries, shopped a @goodronedgewood t @littleloafdeli and The Little Loaf Community Grocery, heard some always interesting history from the incredible guy @bemjoiner and wrapped up the day at Atlanta’s Historic @thecurbmarket where we supported their local vendors pop up and snapped a few photos at their incredible World Cup installation (which you should absolutely check out).
A BIG BIG thank you to all of the Creatives businesses, organizations, artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders helping keep this corridor vibrant and full of life.
And thank you to @martatransit and MARTA Artbound for supporting this Creative Placemaking initiative and helping us connect people to the stories, voices, creativity, and lived experiences that shape Atlanta.
Interested in joining us next Saturday?

✨Today’s event at The Spark Lab was a beautiful reminder that making a difference starts with simply showing up and serving others.

💥A special shoutout to our newest young team member, an outstanding high school graduate who impressed everyone with his enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to learn.

👀Watching him confidently assist with balance and stability demonstrations and interact with attendees was inspiring.

🏅Minister Lewis were honored to work alongside him as they connected with so many wonderful people throughout the day.

The next generation is full of promise, and today I witnessed it firsthand.

💫Thank you, Spark Lab, for having us. We can’t wait for the next event!
