Season one, complete.

Some days it was a full dancefloor. Others, a film under the stars, a meeting place, a swim, a slow Sunday or a sunset that made everyone stop for a minute.

We welcomed legends, new discoveries, familiar faces and completely different communities, sometimes all in the same week.

It was exactly what we hoped Quinta Mira Rio could be.

To everyone who played, created, collaborated, worked, danced, ate, swam, watched, listened or simply came to spend some time here, thank you for being part of our first season.

See you in 2027.

Navigating Culture Shocks in Parenting: Africa vs. the UK
Parenting across borders comes with a unique set of adjustments, especially when moving from Nigeria and the wider African setting to the United Kingdom.

Back home, we proudly live by the mantra that "it takes a village to raise a child," deeply instilling communal respect, obedience, and traditional boundaries. But stepping into the UK introduces a fascinating shift in perspective. What many African parents initially perceive as "disrespect" or "answering back" is often simply the confidence and self-expression these kids are taught in school.

In UK classrooms, children are encouraged to maintain eye contact with adults and articulate their thoughts freely. They are learning to navigate a completely different social landscape, which can easily trigger a culture shock for parents trying to balance heritage with a new environment.

As parents, taking a deep breath and correcting with love is key. Our kids are adapting to a lot, and bridging the gap between African values and Western expression takes patience, empathy, and open dialogue.

@danghenacia scarcely requires introduction. A cornerstone of the underground for over two decades, one third of the revered @apolloniamusic trio, and a fixture behind the decks at @dc10ibizaofficial, his influence on contemporary house music is, be now, a matter of record. Since relocating to Lisbon, the city has quietly become his new creative home.

In 2025, he channelled that evolution into spasm records, a label built on hypnotic grooves and unrelenting percussion, unmistakably his own. This Sunday, that vision steps off wax and onto the dancefloor for the very first time at @quinta_mirario.

For the occasion, Ghenacia has assembled a formidable cast, drawing from the finest of Lisbon’s and France’s house lineage, with @jcaiado, @vanessakokeshi, @alineumberlive and @krol______ !
