Always check your mics BEFORE recording.

This was supposed to be a video on how well these DJI wireless mics work but someone didn’t check if the reciever was on 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sometimes you don’t want to film yourself.

One simple framing tip can make your videos look more professional.

Don’t film with your camera or phone too low. When you’re looking down at the lens, your eyes end up too high in the frame, leaving little room for captions and other on-screen elements.

Instead, position the camera so your eyes are closer to the center of the frame. You’ll have more space for captions, your face won’t get covered by social media buttons, and your videos will feel much more balanced.

A small adjustment that makes a big difference.

Visual hooks, close-ups, and edits can keep viewers watching longer.

One of the easiest ways to make your videos feel more cinematic is to think in three shot sizes:

Wide — show where you are.
Medium — show what’s happening.
Tight — show the details.

A wide shot gives context, a medium shot tells the story, and a tight shot creates emotion. Put them together and your videos instantly become more engaging.

Thanks @mikeypnj from @pickfishpets for letting use as my example 😎

85% of social media videos are watched with the sound off.

If your video only works when people can hear it, you’re missing a huge part of your audience.

Adding captions helps keep viewers engaged, improves accessibility, and makes sure your message gets across no matter where they’re watching.

For quick and easy captions, I usually recommend using Captions or CapCut. Both do a great job of automatically generating captions and can save a ton of editing time.

Make your videos work with sound on or off.

Behind every video is a lot more than just hitting record.

Packing gear, setting up, filming, redoing shots, editing… it all adds up 😅

The final clip might be short, but the process definitely isn’t.

Worth it every time though.

Try this 4 Clip Video.

In this video, the first clip is me leaning into the camera from one side. Then the next shot switches to me walking in from another angle and sitting down.

The key to making it feel seamless? Match the motion.

Before cutting to the new clip, I continue the movement from the first shot, recreate that motion in the next clip, and then continue the sentence. It’s a small detail that makes your video feel way more natural instead of choppy.
