Happy Founders Day Spelman💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you for teaching me and all Spelman Women how to know our worth, speak our truth, uplift each other, and to be "...undaunted by the fight." I just made my Spelman Strong donation and encourage my Sisters to do so as well.💙💙💙💙

Reposted from @spelman_college As we begin our #SpelmanFoundersDay celebrations, we draw inspiration from our theme, Stronger Together: Upholding Our Legacy, to reflect on the significance of our incredible 141-year history. Hear from alumnae as they share what Spelman's legacy means to them and view the extended video series at linktr.ee/SpelmanStrong

Uphold our legacy today by making your Founders Day gift to Spelman by Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, at bit.ly/upholdthelegacy. Your support keeps us Spelman Strong!

It’s #WCW and we are now celebrating my Spelman Sister, Tiombé Nucklos O'Rourke. There were many people responsible for making the Save Our Seniors Soirée the epic night that it was last week for the attendees, donors, sponsors, board members and most of all the students. They all deserve recognition for the time, energy, money and support they give to the cause. 🔥

At the helm of all of this greatness is Tiombé, my sister and my friend. She started True Blue 1881, Inc in 2017 at the same time we started The Homecoming Challenge and we have been supportive of one another and our related causes from Day 1. Tiombe has a heart of gold, is beautiful inside and out, and she always shows up in her passion for helping others. Not only is she the fitness guru who motivates others to not make excuses in keeping sexy or bringing sexy back, but her compassion and encouragement are unsurpassed. A loving wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend to many, Tiombe has been my big sister during some of my toughest times when encouragement matters most.

Starting something is tough and takes a lot of courage and work behind the scenes. I know it is a heavy lift and I want to recognize and uplift this amazing sister and her nonprofit board.

Her sign says, "Well behaved women rarely make history." She's right. And that's why I'm also surprising her with this post. Take a bow, Sis. You deserve an entire round of applause and more for motivating the masses and shining a light on the need to help students stay in school and graduate! 💙💙💙

It’s #WCW and we are now celebrating my Spelman College sisters (and Morehouse Brothers) for throwing the sold out and smashingly successful Save Our Seniors Soirée last weekend. The Harlem Renaissance themed event looked like the second Ralph Lauren collection and these beautiful people partied the night away. At the same time, they raised money to help seniors clear student balances that would otherwise keep them from graduation.

Congratulations on this incredible inaugural event. We are all so proud of you and it is an honor to support.

#Spelman sisters, the pandemic has physically separated us from one another and many of our traditions have been placed on hold. Some of the most special New Student Orientation traditions were postponed, rightfully so, ensuring the health and well-being of our Spelman community, causing our first year and second-year classes to miss the opportunity to connect with alumnae at the beginning of their journey. We have a solution, but we need you!

Please sign up today to be connected with a #Spelmansister for an informal sisterly alumna/student pairing. We ask that you make contact at least once with your assigned sister and preferably on or before Founders Day, Monday, April 11, 2022.

You will receive an email with your Spelman sister match by Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Sophia B. Packard and Harriet E. Giles, Founders of @spelman_college

“On April 11, 1881, in the basement of a Black Baptist church in Atlanta, Sophia B. Packard and Harriet E. Giles embarked upon an educational mission, the creation of a school for Black women and girls. Caught up in the wave of Northern missionaries coming South to provide education and Christian training to more than 1 million freed people, Packard and Giles left the comforts of their New England home to fulfill what they believed was their role in bringing a divided nation together. They formed a powerful dream that they shared and pledged their lives to implement. Theirs was a bold vision, a daring dream. It was this mission that led to the founding of the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary.”
