Weightlifting for Sports Performance

Weightlifting is also a tremendous developmental tool as a secondary sport. Nothing develops speed, power, or strength quite like the Olympic lifts. And by nature, Weightlifting follows a long term athletic development trajectory, fully developing young athletes over time.

At 15 years old, Spencer has been training weightlifting with steadfast for over 4 years and is already a National Champion Weightlifter, but more importantly as a wrestler, Spencer is also a Freestyle and Greco-Roman dual champion at the US Open AND an international dual champion at the Pan American Championships.

You will always be my baby. ❤️ Happy 18th Birthday, Meg!

None of us are ready for this… including you! 😂 Today you’re officially an adult by age, but nothing really changes. You’re still our beautiful baby girl—just with a different number!

I’m so grateful for all the memories God has given us together—the adventures, competitions, church events, ski trips, hunting, golfing, fishing, concerts, and you even introducing your dad to musicals. 😂❤️

But more than anything, I’m proud of the young woman you’ve become. Your love for the Lord is contagious. The way you serve, love others, extend grace, compete, and attack life with tenacity while still having such a soft and compassionate heart makes me incredibly proud to be your dad.

God gave me one daughter, and I truly believe my life wouldn’t be complete without you. ❤️

As you start this next chapter, always remember that God has so much more ahead for you:

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you… plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

I can’t wait to see where God takes you next. Keep loving Him, serving others, chasing big dreams, and being exactly who He created you to be.

Happy 18th, Meg! ❤️ You’ll ALWAYS be my baby.

Love you more than you’ll ever know.

Dad ❤️

Steadfast athletes Maddie and Spencer are making it a habit of getting training sessions in at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center.

Here Spencer is at the Senior Worlds Wrestling Prep Camp getting a lift in and staying on his weightlifting program.

Enjoy the first person view of Spencer working up to a heavy complex of 1 Clean + 1 Hang Clean and channel that inner elite athlete.

USA 🇺🇸🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇The joy of the athletes and the joy of their parents are the greatest rewards any coach can receive. Seeing the smiles after the hard work, the confidence built through dedication, and the success earned after years of commitment is a feeling beyond words. 🏆💙
