Meet last year’s Karl Langer Award recipient, Sophie Richards.

The Karl Langer Award is the highest honour awarded to a QUT Landscape Architecture graduate by AILA QLD, recognising a student who demonstrates outstanding potential in shaping the future of the profession.

Sophie’s work is grounded in ecological repair, social justice, and long-term resilience. With a background in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Science, she approaches design as a way to restore and strengthen relationships between people, place, and ecological systems.

We are excited to soon announce the 2025 Karl Langer Award nominees — stay tuned.

Very proud of the Brisbane Team (amongst others) in what we’ve achieved in such a short space of time. Two project awards at last week’s QLD AILA Awards Night for the Tallowwood Cemetery Masterplan and South Bank Biodiversity Strategy. Special mentions to Afonso, Alex, Benn, Clare, and Sophie. A fitting way to close the chapter. More thanks to come for our broader supporters and collaborators. 📸 Holly Peacock
