I’m really proud of the practical water effects in this sequence. Because @pisie5 and I weren’t allowed into the operating room for my sister Alicia’s egg extraction we had to get creative showing the surgery in our film CYCLES. We created this montage from stock footage and photos, then exported it - played it down on a laptop on the ground and reshot it through a plastic bin filled with water - we then added oil to give some more particle action in the foreground. It’s subtle but we love it. When the water pulled the image too far in one direction, I took it into after effects and manually pinned the corners so it would only bulge and stretch with the timing of @jenstarsinic’s score and Matt Baker’s mix. It’s my favorite sequence in the movie but it works better in context. #shortfilm #documentary #eggdonation #filmmaking
