My Next Flight
In the Obsidian Blackness

Seventy-eight days remain in 2026.

I look back at the fragile line
between what I prayed for
and what I feared.

Was that one precious week in remission
a glimpse of hope
or a reminder of what I might lose?

I lost 11.1lbs,
then 4.4lbs more, a total of 15.5lbs in 2 weeks
Behind every number was a promise
to care for the body
that carries me through this life.

I learned when to fight,
when to rest,
and when to surrender
what I cannot control.

Because I can pray, plan,
and give something my whole heart
and still not know
how the story ends.

And yet, I lived.

I loved. I grew. I published.
I flew to Texas more than twenty times,
skied, raced an ultramarathon,
and slept beneath Yosemite’s stars.

I shot for the stars
and landed on the moon.
Perhaps that, too, was a miracle.

Life is fragile,
like a butterfly opening its wings
without knowing what the wind will bring.

And when the obsidian blackness comes,
when tomorrow feels uncertain,
I will remember:

I have lived through days I once feared.
I have found wonder in what I cannot control.
I have carried fear and hope
in the same beating heart.

I cannot promise myself tomorrow,
but I refuse to abandon today.

So I loosen my wings
not in surrender,
but in trust.

The ending is unwritten.
The darkness is real.
But somewhere beyond it,
the sky is waiting.

And so am I.

Still here.
Still becoming.
Still brave enough to fly.

Ready for my next flight.✈️

Grateful for the opportunity to be one of the @bandit coaches in LA for the 12-week summer series after years of pacing in NYC.
The staff, coaches, pacers (slide 2), and runners made the move to a new city and a new running culture so easy.
See you soon @run

ABOUT YOU WEST COAST TOUR ‘26

Back in February, we released our debut album and celebrated with a live performance in-the-round for 100 people. It went so well that we’re taking it on the road.

Every show is an event that features a live performance from About You, one local opener, and one local DJ. Each night is a celebration of the city we’re in, and we’d love to see you there.
