I’m excited to see our film for @spilllway get added as an official selection at @victoryiffevv this year 🖤

It’s only fitting that “Indiana” makes its big screen debut at a festival in Evansville, IN, the hometown of @walllyopus who commissioned the film.

Wanted to thank everyone for checking it out and the people that made it possible:

Magic ingredient for sustained success in music: be a good Listener. 🎧

Every so often, I meet another person living in Evansville whose high-level work stretches beyond Indiana and into the greater world of Music and Art. With a career spanning over two decades, Aaron Tanner is one of those people.

His coffee table books on legendary underground rock bands like PIXIES and Face to Face are housed in the permanent collections of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Smithsonian (to name a few) and his branding can be seen all over our town at spots like Azzip Pizza, Pangea Kitchen, and Arcademie (also, to name only a few).

A kind soul and an outlier of a committed artist, I’m grateful to have interviewed Aaron about his story and how he thinks about his work.

The demos are sometimes closer to what we’re wanting rather than the polished productions…

Clip from our recent chat with Chloe Gonzales at @uclaradio. Full episode with Spillway, Leo Lovechild, and more is now streaming.

Studio time w/ Wyatt.

I’m honored to be from Indiana working with artists based in places like LA and New York. Every couple of months, I fly to where they are and get to spend time in the studio watching them work. Because 90% of the work we do is online, remotely, times like this teach me so much about how we can better serve them from our home base in the Midwest. I’m grateful for the present and stoked for the future! 🚀

Spillway’s last single to round out the year, “first of december” is now streaming on all platforms. 🎄

“With nights growing longer, the holiday’s upon us, and the heaviness of the recent election still looming overhead for many, Spillway’s fresh gem “first of december” captures the weight of the moment painted by the ordinary scene of an unmotivated couple who’ve spent “just another day, where our hearts weren’t in it.” Unfolding from simple plucking into a busy, guitar-driven soundscape feeling like a head full of thoughts, “first of december” closes out an exciting year on a bittersweet note for twin-brothers Aaron and Wyatt Mones of Spillway.”

In 2024, we were focused on getting our artists’ releases heard through better distribution. We launched 4 new projects and grew our existing catalog increasing our label’s yearly stream count 10x from about 50k in 2023 to over 500k in 2024. (Shooting for 5 million in 2025, 50 million in ‘26, you get the trajectory). Our catalog grew from 19 releases across the first three years to 24 releases in 2024, alone.

Thank you to each of our artists for committing themselves to our development process and thank you to anyone who’s supported them, their music, and/or our little label over the last 4 years.

We’re undergoing some exciting changes within Wally’s structure and hard at work planning each project’s crystal clear goals for 2025. (But first, Spillway has one more song - “first of december” - coming next Friday to round out our year).

Slow and Steady = Smooth.
Zoom out to see Smooth is Fast.

Also want to mention, Samuel Avery’s releases missed Spotify’s deadline for wrapped, but his streams were accounted for in this post and he IS the sweetest badass boy around.

We were taken aback by how good ‘Honest Song’ is.

Building a symbolical bridge between New York and Los Angeles, the track sees Woodstock twin brothers folk duo Spillway teaming up with Californian songstress Calica, unveiling a bucolic and cathartic sonic universe made up of soothing vocals and ethereal textures.
