I realized I never properly posted about this piece, so here it is! This was from my first group performance this past June. It meant so much to me to perform with such talented individuals. I was challenged and humbled every step of the way. The choreography by @ange_eluhh was AMAZING!! It was focused and purposeful, yet fierce and passionate every step of the way. To me, this dance personified a whole spectrum of raw human emotions, including rage, wonder, vulnerability, and solidarity, and I thank everyone involved for allowing me to explore those emotions and grow both as a performer and a woman in general.

Choreography: @ange_eluhh
Song arrangement: @ange_eluhh

- WOMAN -

I had the privilege to shoot some of my fellow teachers @theaerialhouse this week ✨ I’ve been contemplating what it means to be a woman a lot over the last year, and how society tries to box us up neatly into this very narrow idea of womanhood and “femininity.” Be skinny, but not too skinny; have curves but not too many curves; wear makeup, but don’t overdo it; don’t age; be strong but not too muscular; be sexual, but not TOO sexual; wear more, wear less…

Aerial has given me a deeper appreciation of my own body and its’ capabilities; it has redefined my idea of what is beautiful and “feminine.” I continue to be inspired and amazed by all of the incredible women I work and practice with at the aerial studio.

This shoot was a true collaboration. I had some ideas on costuming, and the overarching concept was clear to me, but the most important thing for me was to capture all of these women moving authentically as themselves.
