Kites for Palestine

Palestinian Children Have the Right to Fly

Kids everywhere love kites. For Palestinian children, however, making and flying kites is more than a little fun. It is an expression of the freedom they are denied.

In Gaza, children make kites from whatever materials they can find among the rubble and fly them above the tents they are forced to call home. These simple acts of joy are powerful expressions of resilience, determination, steadfastness, and hope.

Israel’s genocidal war and years of blockade have devastated Palestinian children’s lives, depriving them of food, clean water, education, clean air. safety, and the basic conditions every child needs to grow and thrive. Now, even their ability to enjoy the simple pleasure of flying a kite is under threat of military retaliation!

We refuse to accept a world in which Palestinian children are denied not only their homes and their security, but also their childhood. Please join us on Saturday November 21 to stand in solidarity with Palestine’s children 11am-2pm at Flowers and Bullets,

Midtown Farm
3538 E Ellington Pl
Tucson, AZ 85713

Everyone is welcome! Please bring family, friends and neighbors! Authentic Palestinian food provided including a falafel stand serving fresh falafel just like it’s done on Palestine’s streets! Thank you for your solidarity and support. ❤️🇵🇸

apparently, hurricane season isn’t over. some storms come without of warning, but i’ve been a woman far too long to confuse terrible men with natural disasters. somehow, we’re still pretending we couldn’t have seen the devastation coming.

friday night, i brought a different kind of storm to the stage at @lightthemicfriday homecoming in tucson, az. 🌀

TUCSON, AZ! We'll be making banners, signs and whatever other art for future protests and demonstrations. Bring the whole family! There will be plenty of supplies there, but you're welcome to come with more.

Our focus will be on messaging for resistance to ice and the border wall, but if you have something calling to you to make, do your thing! 🎨

One of my favorite things about Light The Mic is finding out about the collabs that happened bc folks met there.

Songs, features, and whole damn groups! Yall have put on shows at diff venues with amazing lineups.... there's been photo shoots... new friendships...

We've had artists find somebody who understood what they were trying to make and helped them bring it to fruition. That's actual magic 🔥🎤

With us only going 3 times a year now, sometimes I don't even hear about the collab until months later.

That is why I've always said LTM is bigger than the stage. Those 7 minutes matter 💯 and they can change you forever...

But what happens after those 7 minutes can matter just as much.

Show us your receipts.

What happened in your life because of somebody you met at Light The Mic?

Big or small. Tell us! Folks might think I'm just talking shit in a promo, let's show them!!

WHAT CAME OUT OF LTM FOR YOU? WHAT IN YOUR LIFE WAS BORN IN THIS SPACE?
