📍 Arten Garten, Zaandamer Str., 12359 Berlin-Neukölln (Britz)
🎟 Free entry

📽 ABOUT THE FILMS:
• The Pitfall
A short dance film made in Georgia with minimal resources, reflecting on the devastating impact of Russia’s war on Black Sea dolphins (disoriented by warships, bombs, and toxins) while the team members experienced their first chapter of forced emigration

• Rooted Elsewhere
A decolonial and feminist video approach exploring rootedness as fluid rather than fixed, looking at how identity, memory, and home exist across different geographies through adaptation and transformation

• Looking at Cheryomukha
A short analogue photo-film documenting a simple, intimate encounter: several people looking at a towering bird cherry tree and turning an ordinary moment into something transcendent through sustained attention

• split mica
An experimental arthouse video essay featuring artists Joseline, Isa, and row. Using movement scores and striking imagery without dialogue, they explore how New Mexico shaped their identities, histories, and relationships under the complexities of US imperialism

The event takes place outdoors—please dress warmly!
Warm drinks, blankets, and a sauna will be available 🔥

In collaboration with Kulturschafft e.V. and the South Caucasus Center for Culture.
Funded by the Department of Culture of the Neukölln District Office and the FEIN programme/ @ba_neukoelln_berlin

Split Mica began as a desire to create something bigger than ourselves.

In 2023, we were awarded the Fulcrum fund. Thanks to the support from the @warholfoundation and @516_arts, we were able to bring our project to life. We quickly realized our vision and ambition was far larger than what three stubborn artists could handle alone. We brought on an incredible camera team @mnkndy (cinematographer) and @booboothecruel (AC) to help us shoot our original proof of concept in Jemez, NM.

We are so grateful for the financial trust allotted to us by 516 arts and the incredible talent of MK and Sheldon. Thank you @tit.tots.tay for allowing us the opportunity to have your beautiful voice in the final pitch and help us tell this story. Thank you everyone who has believed in us and split mica and for continuing to follow along our journey. We are excited to share the final trailer and short film before this year ends. 🖤

I hope you have seen me post about Split Mica. A short film in the works. Although it was extremely hard to be a part of the process, I would love to do it again. I had the opportunity to direct for the first time and boy was that hard too. But I’m thankful to have been a part of a team that created something special. Find me posting about it for the next couple days hehe here are a few moments from behind the scenes :P

had the honor of doing props/set dec/sfx/art on the first weekend of @splitmica . it was a blast working with friends, old and new, exploring new mexico, and getting to remember what it was like to be a filmmaker 🫶🏽

ft. my PA stance, as i hadn’t quite switched gears yet :)
