POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Third track “Submerged” from the Rabbitsss EP "Adrift" pulsates with subdued synth bass while pointilistic electric piano improvisations move in counterpoint to the strums of prepared piano strings for haunting effect.

A collaboration between artists based in Woodstock, New York State, and Ballarat, regional Victoria, Rabbitsss join the Clan Analogue artist collective to release Adrift, the first in a sequence of new EPs. The three-track set—“Adrift”, “Mortal and Pestle” and “Submerged”—expands the electro-acoustic language Rae Howell and Jon Cohrs began on their self-released debut Penguins in 2014.

With elements of glitch granulisation and experimental lounge exotica, Adrift sharpens the Rabbitsss style into something leaner, stranger and more cinematic.

Marimbas and vibraphones flutter against thickets of sampled kitchen clatter; French horns trade motifs with detuned synths; rhythmic loops stumble, recover and surge ahead.

Second track “Mortal and Pestle” lurches forward on a drunken brass cadence before dissolving into a vapour-trail of analogue tape hiss, an unsettling lullaby fading just as it finds its groove.

Red carpet magic at the Tribeca Film Festival for the world premiere of Kids Like Me! 🌟📽️

I had the honor of catching up with the star of the show, Oliver, who shared his excitement for the film—especially the scenes involving his favorite genre: murder mysteries alongside Monk Star , Tony Shaloub 🕵️‍♂️

It was also wonderful to chat with the creative force behind the film, directors Cynthia Lowen and Jon Cohrs, alongside Oliver’s parents, Casey and Chad, and his sister, Willa.

This film is a powerful testament to authentic disability representation, showing the full, 360-degree picture of non-typical lives—the joyful moments and the tough ones.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating storytelling that truly reflects our community. ♿️✨

MOVIE REVIEW
Kids Like Me
NR - 5 out of 5 stars

Genre: Documentary, Coming-of-Age
Year Released: 2026
Runtime: 1h 28m
Director(s): Cynthia Lowen, Jon Cohrs
Where to Watch: shown at the 2026 Tribeca Festival

RAVING REVIEW: Many documentaries about disability position themselves around education, inspiration, advocacy, or emotional endurance so aggressively that the people at the center begin to feel flattened into something like a symbol long before the audience gets to know them as people. KIDS LIKE ME avoids that because Cynthia Lowen and Jon Cohrs understand something simple but surprisingly rare. Oliver is not interesting because he has a disability. He’s interesting because he’s funny, obsessive, imaginative, dramatic, creative, stubborn, emotionally complicated, and consumed by the idea of making movies. That shapes the entire documentary in the best possible way.

At the center of KIDS LIKE ME is Oliver, a twelve-year-old murder mystery enthusiast with a wildly vivid imagination and a deep love for storytelling. Inspired by classic mysteries, fake blood, dramatic reveals, and suspense, he begins crafting his own murder mystery production with the help of family and friends. What starts as a charming, creative project gradually evolves into something larger as the documentary reveals the emotional, financial, and physical realities of Oliver’s daily life, never allowing those realities to define him.

Lowen and Cohrs never pretend Oliver’s life is free from struggle, medical uncertainty, frustration, or emotional difficulty. The documentary acknowledges the physical therapy, mounting medical costs, parental exhaustion, anxieties, and the complicated emotional territory surrounding adolescence and disability. At the same time, the film refuses to reduce Oliver to an object of sympathy. KIDS LIKE ME consistently prioritizes personality over diagnosis, which gives the documentary an honesty many projects fail to achieve.

Oliver completely carries the film. He has the kind of natural screen presence directors spend years trying to manufacture in fiction films...
