UNDAGROUND CHOPPERS 7

the undaground choppers series by @djlilsprite is a true institution for the fast rap community, giving numerous artists their first big break and consolidating their relationship with their fanbases. each release felt like a massive event and the seventh installment, which was released 8 years ago today, felt especially unique.

the community was alive and involved, each of the artists was consistently releasing music and hype was at an all-time high, coming off of the success of part 6 with the first music video, iconic teasers, a contest to hop on part 8 launching before 7 even released and even some rumors about special guests. put simply, this track has a lot of history, and even back then you really got the feeling that big things were happening backstage and everyone was putting in work.

in retrospect this is arguably the peak that the series had been building towards up to that point, in terms of overall quality, identity and curation. there was no better time to issue a contest, after this one UC was *the* posse to try and be on. the artists delivered some of their best performances and sprite, backed by silencyde on the guitars, brought possibly the best beat in the entire saga, with articulate production, various sections for the choppers to go off and organize their verse and a grim yet epic sound selection.

while i do believe that some criticism is due, this is not the place for it, and today we're celebrating the anniversary of an important moment for this community and thanking sprite, splxt and everyone else for their efforts.
