Day 0

Started early perc move ins with a quick unload and jumped right in with some subbies. Worked on some fundies with good ol Thomas and Ray. Excited to get my hands feeling better and working on upping my chops game. The vibe in the bassline is honestly one that I’ve dreamed of having since starting this journey so that’s also really exciting.

Hopefully my mental can improve in the next few weeks. Hoping that the drive and passion can come back full force and really dig into enjoying this experience. Leaving behind loved ones has been the hardest part in all of this. Will be counting down the days till that mason OH show. Till then I’ll be working towards getting that grind set back and not being afraid of the unknown.

It’s hard to even begin this post; Ive been putting it off for a week now to give myself some time to fully process the season. But, I don’t think I’ve fully comprehended how amazing and life changing it was. It is really hard to think about how this group of people will never march together again, so it really has got me cherishing every memory that I’ve gained this season, and I can’t help but to get emotional.

At the beginning of the season, I didn’t really know what to expect. I came to Cap City because I wanted to march somewhere during the winter so I can take in some information and teaching styles from the minds of the staff that had been, and marched all the way around the U.S. so I can become a better teacher, and marched with some of the best in the country. I was humbled right away in the beginning at auditions, getting cut from the world group on the first audition day. At the time I didn’t know it yet, but that would be the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me. I got a callback for CC2 two weeks down the road to come back and audition again. Two more audition weekends go by and I got contracted (thanks, @timartin91 👍). A couple more weekends went by and we were all contracted. And just like that, for some reason, we all just clicked and the rest is history.

Getting good while having fun. That is pretty much the phrase that carried the entire season. As much as the staff (at first) were not so sure about it, they saw that we were getting better when we were being goofy and having a good time. I don’t think I’m going to be apart of something quite like that ever again. I’m never gonna forget our stim sessions, or making @jjf_percussion crash out mid block with our dumbassery.

Thank you to all my oaf brothers and sister for the best season of my life. I will never forget this. I can’t wait til auditions next year so we can all stim together once again.

Time to get ready for the summer. I’ll see ya’ll at a DCI event near you with the @madisonscouts ⚜️

Wow another incredible season this year. I was faced with a lot of hardship this season which only made me love cap city a lot more. All these people helped me through what was one of the hardest season I’ve ever been through. Through the adversity I’ve more friends than I can remember and made me love going through all the things with some of the greatest people I know. I can’t believe it’s over, for now.🖤🤍

Everyone around me will always be my biggest supporters I love you all💜

Cap City 2: Is Less More? - 94.825

Words cannot describe how I feel about this organization, this ensemble, and this group of talented performers. This season was a real challenge for me, there were a lot of ups and downs, but there is nowhere else I’d rather call home. Cap City is more than just drums in a gym, it’s creating magic as a FAMILY. I will forever cherish the memories I made with this ensemble, even the half-mile sprint to unload the trailer for Semi-Finals.

Although I don’t like to play favorites, I feel abligated to shout out one member in specific…Cap City 2’s Synth player came into the ensemble this season with NO knowledge of the instrument, and was able to succeed to the point that she became a vital element of our show design. I cannot express how proud I am of her, as well as all of the incredibly talented, hardworking performers in this organization. I am blessed to have been a part of something as powerful as this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those who have supported me along my path as a musician, and to those of Cap City and Cap City 2, thank you for accepting me into your world, educating me, and learning with me. I will not soon forget you all.
