Like every other Saturday morning, I got up, did my morning routines, ran errands, read piles of study materials, followed up some pending research work, ate, took a nap, and read a whole more. But it's been almost a year since I stepped on the Tatami to compete, the thought of signing on for a world-famous championship despite my inability to prepare well bothered me a bit. It's been a greulling first quarter of 2025 that had felt like 6 months, I have had a lot going on, but in the words of Optimus Prime, "fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing".

Like a bee drawn to nectar, I drove mindlessly for about an hour until I got to the location. The last time I was here, it was covered in snow and my teeth chattered as I walked to the hall, but today was different. The cool winds were gentle and the sun rays tickled our skins harmlessly; I would be a good day.

As I walked into the brightly lit coliseum, the sight of the Tatami, which extended as far as my eyes could see in the hall, the blood-curlding random screams of 400+ warriors as they all got themselves into the mental zone and the feeling of being connected in Budo gave me goosebumps. My eyes got briefly misty, but No! Not today, for today we go to war and there shall be no weakness! 🤣.

So, I presently weigh a little over 90kg and I got bumped to the +100kg(to infinity😏) Division; in judo, this weight difference changes everything. But for those who know me, I am notorious for always punching above my weight 😎😏. As I sat and waited for my moments of glory on the mat, I listened to my curated pre-battle playlist to get myself into "the zone".

The adrenaline rush had ended, I had run the gauntlet and here I was standing on the podium to receive my medal and flying the National flag. As I stared into the crimson skies as the sun dipped into the horizons, I thought to myself, "another conquest, another medal; the journey has only just begun and there are numerous podiums ahead for the taking!". But mehn,... body taya me sha, everywhere just dey do me wan kain, who send me message sef? @koyejosofoluwe , look what you made me do!

Side quest done and dusted, the parchments and quills call.
