I’ve lost track of how many sea creatures you host now on your skin @spottedfabri but I am sure this giant, kind whale opened up the dances a few years ago, diving with you into the experiences of life.

Our first blue whale of the season and we’re still going nuts!

You know they’re big, but seeing one in real life is just insane!

And it pooped! Bright green. 😂

Pigmy Blue whale! One of the biggest creature to live on the planet. They can reach 24 metres

The team at Geographe Marine Research shared a little insight with us: Perth Canyon is a known feeding ground, but these whales may also feed opportunistically in places we’re still learning about.
Seeing it poop suggests it had been feeding earlier in its journey, possibly somewhere nearby. Exactly where or when, we can’t tell. But what we can tell is that this green cloud is an immense support for our ocean food web.

So footage of whale poo, and lots of questions, yes.

🌊 EMA Waatu Kaatajin: Wongi Waatu Gulyarra 🌊

The Cowaramup Primary Children’s Sea Council has chosen Seagrass, Waatu Maarin, as a focus for their Waatu Kaatajin Ocean Learning journey at their EMA site in Cowaramup Bay 🌱🌊

Through a rich diversity of voices, experiences and ways of knowing, students are weaving stories together and exploring Waatu Maarin through science, culture, creativity and connection to Country.

Guided by the knowledge and expertise of the @waparkswildlife DBCA Ngari Capes Marine Park team, @undalup_association rangers, @iszaacwaalitjwebb, Professor Gary Kendrick (@uwaoceans_ss ) and the @encountersagainandagain we are Wongi Waatu Gulyarra (Talking oceans together) and Koorlin (sharing) together about his crucial habitat of the marine environment.

🌱 Some of the learning so far…

...Seagrasses are the only flowering plants in the sea! Like Mamung (whales), they came from land and, over time, made their home in the ocean. They have evolved remarkable adaptations that allow them to grow, flower and reproduce beneath the sea.

...Beneath the waters of Cowaramup Bay are two dominant seagrass species: Amphibolis antarctica and Posidonia sinuosa... …yet the full extent of these underwater meadows across this site remains to be measured.

...Seagrass capture and store carbon, stabilise sediments and protect our coastlines from erosion.

...Seagrass meadows provide a vital foundation for marine ecosystems, supporting an extraordinary diversity of marine life. Including Gil (lobster), Corial (crabs), Beeda (squid), Bamba (stingray), Djiljit (fish), Carbem (grouper), Waatu Djinda (sea star)...and so many more!

...Everything is connected, and every element of Boodja (country) holds an interconnected story. The plants, animals, seasons, ocean and people are deeply interconnected, with the health and wellbeing of one part of boodja influencing and sustaining so many others...

...Over the last 100 years, the world has lost around 20% of its seagrasses, and unfortunately, we are still losing one to two football fields of seagrass every hour.. let us learn and care together for this extraordinary ecosystem.

These are the chronicles of the captain.

Chronicles of adventures and expeditions.
Where our dreams became real.

We bought a boat, we reconditioned it, we made it prettier and now this boat is carrying all these souls towards the ocean. hopefully inspiring to protect what we have.

And of course we are missing so many in these chronicles...

Manu, Mati, Mel, Pablito, Oli, Gabi, Patrick, Ash Just to mention a couple of names. We are pleased to know that they are also part of this and that there's gonna be much more.

Because we are here, investing in our shared ocean world, investing in connecting the people to it, investing in our learnings. We are here because the ocean wanted us to be here and we are doing our own part to protect this sacred place.

This is a project made by lots of people and we invite as well to anyone who wants to be part of it to come around and share. Knowledge, art, or even supporting the fund. This is a project that goes beyond our enjoyment of life, it goes towards something bigger.

These are difficult times in this world and finding a way to help is not always easy. We have been through that sense of hopelessness even the shame of not doing enough and we still haven't figured out completely how we are here.

And that is the important thing... Being here now.

Willing to help our imperfect humanity

Where we met, in the ocean, where we still are , keen for whatever he wants to show us.

Pretty special time, this shot was taken the first weekend we spent sailing and sleeping out in our sailboat, gathering our ocean friends to share stories and adventures.

🐋 @spottedfabri 🐋

Fabri and I met in a little island on The Great Barrier Reef and is safe to say that we spent more time underwater that out of it.

Definitely the most passionate person about the ocean I know, he sparked my curiosity for the ocean and the wildlife and how to observe it and share it in a way that others can feel it , love it and protect it.

He has an eye to connect his shoots with powerful feelings, as if the animal would want to come out of the frame to tell you a story, and that is what touches me the most, I admire him as an artist and as a friend.

Hanging his art all around our home and looking at them everyday makes me proud of him and reminds me why we started all this, the beauty that the ocean holds and how lucky we are to experience it and share it in this way.

Check his art, talk to him, he’s a nice guy and such an artist, fall in love with his prints, order some and support your local artist & friends so he can keep protecting the ocean and sharing it with all of us 🌊

Happy world ocean day !

To you people! To these encountered souls that were brought together by magic.

By the magic of the ocean.

Happy world ocean day to you relentless, imperfect and perfect, beautiful and powerful humans.

We are testifying to a contemporary sense of wonder, curiosity and love for our environment. We are testifying to bad news, atrocities and a sense of decay of our world.
We are testifying to our will of trying to save the ocean the best we can.

We are trying... all together.

And in the meantime loving it. Enjoying it and being part of an awesome community made by the oceans future.

And of course, we are missing so many of yous. Of course we have the power of all the souls next to us.
But you know who you are for us! A very especial real one

Zeus’s first at my home

The day Zeus arrived, we didn’t really know who we were going to meet.

@gypsea_tails saw his post on SAFE Esperence facebook page looking for a foster carer, and we decided to do it ! ( co parenting style )
He was described as leash reactive, barking constantly, anxious.. soo
we expected a Dog who might hang back, take his time, maybe feel unsure of everything after such a big journey…

Because he had travelled from SAFE Esperance, to Perth, to Margaret river and cared for by such lovely people along the way..

But he couldn’t have been more opposite.

He came in wide open to it all.

Moving through the space, checking everything out, wanting to be part of everything straight away.

There was excitement in every part of him…

But it was also clear it was a lot. He didn’t really know where to put himself or how to handle everything.

So we just slowed everything down for him, later on.
Quiet music, gentle chest massage, strolls around the property so he could get familiar with his new space, and little moments of play with toys to help him settle and feel safe.

No pressure, just helping his nervous system catch up to everything his heart already wanted to run towards.

And bit by bit, you could see him start to soften into it.

Now this beautiful boy has learnt to settle, and learnt how to actually be apart of being in a household

But just recently we discovered this boy has a mast cell tumor growing on his leg and have created a go fund me,

Un giorno @spottedfabri mi ha mostrato il video che ha realizzato nell’isola di Heron in Australia che racconta la vita di una tartaruga, in ogni sua fase. Sono rimasta sbalordita. Le mamme di questa incredibile specie tornano di notte sulla stessa spiaggia dove sono nate. Scavano una buca nella sabbia e depongono circa 100 uova, che ricoprono per proteggerle. I piccoli una volta nati si orientano istintivamente verso la luce riflessa della luna o delle stelle sul mare. Raggiunta l’acqua, inizia il loro primo frenetico nuoto per allontanarsi dai pericoli: di queste piccine solo un esemplare su mille raggiunge l’età adulta a causa dei predatori. La lotta per la sopravvivenza delle tartarughe è una corsa a ostacoli continua: da adulte, affrontano minacce letali come l’inquinamento da plastica e gli attrezzi da pesca. La calma determinazione e resistenza di questi animali ci hanno ispirati per il suo tatuaggio.

One day, Fabrizio showed me the video he made on Heron Island in Australia that tells the story of a turtle, in every stage of its life. I was amazed. The mothers of this incredible species return at night to the same beach where they were born. They dig a hole in the sand and lay about 100 eggs, which they cover to protect them. The hatchlings instinctively orient themselves towards the reflected light of the moon or stars on the sea. Once they reach the water, their first frantic swim begins to escape from dangers: of these little ones, only one in a thousand reaches adulthood due to predators. The struggle for the survival of turtles is a continuous obstacle course: as adults, they face lethal threats like plastic pollution and fishing gear. The calm determination and resilience of these animals inspired us for his tattoo.
