I wrote this piece recently bc I was growing weary.

The task that God has given me at this appointed time is so much bigger than me and it requires so much of me that I’m struggling to fulfill it.

But that’s just it. It’s not up to me to fulfill anything.

All He needs from me is not to lean on my own understanding and TRUST Him.

The need to understand is what’s keeping us bound as a body today.

Where is our faith?

I pray that my intimate warring with the Lord inspires someone today to trust God in the midst of process.

And even while processing the process, know that Grace still covers you.

Trust God ALWAYS, in all ways! 🤞🏾🙏🏾

walking into the month of may, i didn’t expect to fall in love with poetry like this…not with this kind of stirring.

i’ve been writing for 15 years. i’ve hosted rooms, touched mics, and released words into the air…but back then, i was in the world. i was chasing the praise of man, dressing my wounds in language, and calling it healing.

now, it’s different.

i care about God being pleased and remaining the center of my attention.

what once felt like expression has become surrender. what once was venting has become revelation. and where my pen was once a veil, my voice is now an amp reaching decibels of God’s goodness rather than my own image and inclinations, and i’m learning that my prayers and convictions are transformative, from the root to the fruition.

at @spring.forth.poetry, encouraged and surrounded by my sisters in Christ, i stepped up to the mic again…and for the first time, i felt nervous. hands trembling, body reacting, heart pounding.

and honestly, i’m grateful for it

because it reminded me this matters.

and you know what?

i’ll do it again.

for God, i’ll do it again. ✨

I remember one of my pastors or it could’ve been some great man or woman of God who said “where we end is where God begins..” or something like that 🥹 whelp! Here I am, trembling, surrendering, and still saying yes… but with prayers that look like this ^^^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m a “The Matrix” indulger. I think I could continuously watch it and pull so much from it each time…. So I had to throw a lil something in there ! You caught it? 😉
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways, I started this poem Sept. 25, 2024 and completed it yesterday (5/1/26)

These prayers/ questions are increasing and deepening! It’s not easy, BUT ANYTHING WORTH THE WAIT NEVER TRULY IS !!

GOD IS FAITHFUL. I didn’t even realize how long ago I’ve had these conversations with God and how even today the questions (although heavy and seemingly doubtful) reveal a deeper seek and posture!

And it’s his Spirit that has been leading me back to HIM.

I’m right where I’m supposed to be.

HOLD STILL
(IT WON’T BE LONG) ⏰🎶 (coming soon)

Who is Benjamin? I’m West African spoken word poet, urban educator, and community servant based in the DMV. I’m passionate about education, discipleship, theology, and psychology. I think, feel and love very deeply- my family/friends, my students, and my crafts. More than anything, I love Jesus, owe everything I am to His love and live to make Him known.
