I looked back & I’ve done a birthday wrap pretty much every year of this account, so better keep up that streak.

Feeling grateful this year that I able do a run, followed by a wholesome day, and so many lovely birthday wishes to remind me of the fab people I have in life 🥰🥐🎨🏙️🍕

Let’s hope my 28th year will be my year (it better 🤪)

Michelin-starred chef, Tom Kemble opened @springstpizza in London Bridge last year. Now, he’s taken over the railway arch next door and turned it into a 200-capacity NY-Italian style drinking den called Spring Street Pizza Bar.

And if you’re a Nudge Member, you can check it out between 16th-30th October and enjoy 50% off cocktails and food.

The bar is tucked inside one of those beautiful brick railway arches beneath the tracks in Borough. The interiors are sleek - quite 70s in style with plush red lounge seating, retro chairs a super long central bar to chit-chat.

The hope is to bring the vibe of old-school Italian-American neighbourhood joints in New York to London, where you can drop in for a drink, order some food, and eventually realise you’ve been there for four hours.

Drinks wise, martinis are big here. There’ll be six versions in total, including an Olive Oil Martini, and a Blue Cheese Martini that happens to be one of Tom’s favourites. Beyond that, the bar will also have spritzes, classic and signature cocktails, beers and Italian wines, too.

The food offering is definitely not an afterthought here either. They have a wide range of Italian-American bar snacks like Mortadella Sliders (our favourite), to House Meatballs (a favourite of Tom’s), crudo, and much more.

🍕 Spring St Pizza, London

We’ve just got back from the best, most chaotic, fun filled weekend in London for the NFL (which was incredible btw) and wow did we eat good the whole trip!

On our first night we had reservations at Spring St Pizza just a short walk from Borough Market. It’s led by Michelin star chef Tom Kemble, and they serve New York inspired 18 inch pizzas with their own house made dough, fermented for up to 72 hours.

They only serve their pizzas in the 18 inch size which are huge, so we shared one and we opted for half and half toppings so we could try two options.

We ordered:

✨ New Yorker - mozzarella, pepperoni, hot honey, pecorino romano
✨ N’duja & stracciatella
✨ Mozzarella sticks with house marinara & hot honey
✨ All 3 crust dips - green goddess, confit garlic aioli, jalapeño & sour cream

I can truly say that this is my favourite pizza I’ve had served as a full pie, it really did take me back to New York! The base was perfectly crispy, with a chewy crust and the toppings were sooo good.

The New Yorker was definitely my favourite as pepperoni is my go to, but the n’duja and stracciatella was super indulgent! The garlic aioli was definitely my favourite dip, Matty loved the jalapeño & sour cream! Neither of us were too fussed on the green goddess so we probably wouldn’t order that one again.

We loved it so much we toyed with going back again for our second night 😂

Trying the most expensive pizza spot in London?!

£37 for a half-and-half pizza might have you thinking whaaaaat, but hear me out.

When it comes to pizza I’m a sucker for thin and crispy New York style bases. At Spring Street they’re doing exactly that. Headed by Michelin starred chef Tom Kemble these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to making a f*ing good pizza.

It’s a huge 18 inch pizza with the option to do half and half (which was absolutely music to my ears). When it got down to the ordering we went for half of the Tom’s special- Marinara with stracciatella, Verdemanda Olive Oil, 12 year old balsamic vinegar, 24-month Parmesan and basil and half of the New Yorker- San Marzano tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, pepperoni, Pecorino Romano, hot honey.

Now being self professed non lactose intolerant person who just doesn’t love melted cheese on her pizza the Toms special was right up my street and it made me feel vaguely normal considering I usually have to ask without. The fresh tomato paired nicely with the creamyness of the stracciatella and acidity of the vinegar.

Whilst I prefer my pizza without melted cheese, I don’t discriminate against pizzas that do! Which leads me perfectly onto the New Yorker, quite possibly my favourite of the two. It came drizzled in hot honey which I’m an absolute sucker for, giving it the perfect balance of heat to sweetness. I also need to give a quick shout out to their green goddess and confit garlic aioli which are perfect for dipping your crusts.

They weren’t greasy pizzas either and I didn’t come away feeling overly stuffed despite devouring half of it. I’d also recommend getting a Ceaser salad on the side to add a bit of freshness to an otherwise carb heavy meal.
