It's so amazing when you're ADHD ideas are actually good and come to life. I have been racking my brain on this idea of somehow suspending or at least assisting from the ceiling during plyometrics especially the Deep tier ones that my client has a hard time getting into. Yes, in the past we would use hand assistance but it's just kind of tricky cuz your hands aren't free and you can cheat the movement too much by really pushing off so it's a regression but it's almost too much of a regression. Whereas with this situation I can control the amount of help by the pounds of resistance on the resistance band. So what did I do I hung @stroopsfitness from the ceiling and attached them to a @spudincstraps agility belt. At first, I thought this was probably a stupid idea and then my client tried it. He loved it and said he really liked the way it felt he was able to get out of the whole lot easier and not get stuck in the mud. This is not a long-term solution however this will at least get his body feeling what it feels like to get in and out of that bottom position cleaner. And it's offloading just enough weight towards still difficult but he's able to do it. #gymtools #gymhacks #athlete #exercise #plyometrics

Squats from today. First video was my top set of 1,015. This was a big win, it’s the most weight I’ve done in a long time. Depth has to be better I didn’t do a good job sitting in the hole but happy the way it felt and moved after getting the yips last session. Other videos were 975, 925, and 835. Thank you to my spotters for keeping me safe.

I’m not a bodybuilder, I’m not a powerlifter, I am, however, what you call a tactical athlete. In other words, in my profession it is expected that when there’s an emergency, I show up and perform like a professional athlete. The big difference is that traditional athletes have a season of play or a few seasons of play throughout the year. In other words, their preparation for 10 to 12 weeks of football, 2 to 3 specific powerlifting meets, a hockey season (which seems to increase in length almost every year) gives them a chance to have an off-season, recover a little bit, build back up, and improve their skills. Nothing wrong with that in fact, it makes me a little bit jealous… tactical athletes do not have an off-season. Every day has the potential of a Super Bowl level of athletic requirement. The athletic career lasts from 20 to 30+ years. I’m not saying that traditional athletes are any more or less or better or worse than tactical athletes, the demands that they have are just different. If you’re still reading this, tactical athletes, come in all shapes and sizes, tall, thin, short, fat, male, female, young, Old… the demands of the job limit recovery time and ability, and do not change as we age or have a few injuries under our belt. Tactical athletes need to find a balance between muscular strength and size and the ability to perform high speed/low drag on every emergency scene. A good coach can help considerably with that process, but the mindset of understanding the demands of your job must be less than your capacity to perform is where it all begins. The majority of fire department in the United States are volunteer, and the majority of the paid fire department as well as law-enforcement agencies in the United States are small enough that every single member of that department from Chief to brand new baby rookie must be able to perform at an incredibly high capacity Without a warm-up or stretching or prior notification. And yes, it is that serious. If you can’t perform, you don’t come home or a dozen of your friends don’t come home because they were trying to pull you out of a place you shouldn’t have been. Always forward.

Not every training session should be max effort, not every training session should be high volume… But every training session should be optimal for what you need. This is just a glimpse of my dynamic effort lower day. Main movement, not quite a main movement but something I need to work on, and a whole bunch of accessory movements many of which are not shown in these videos… (how many times do you wanna watch me do reverse hypers, hamstring curls, etc.?). Each movement has a purpose and the volume of each movement has a purpose. I’d be happy to explain the why and how much/many to whomever is interested. Until then, always forward.

My grip gave out before my calves did. Every time. Belt squat plus cable stack. Now the calves are the limit, not my hands. No machine needed. #calves #legday #homegym #gymhack
