33 years ago my grandparents bought this house. Besides nyc, it’s the first place I remember calling home. I lived here mostly with my parents, an aunt & uncle, Pwa-pwa & Pho-pho, my great grandma, and an occasional rotation of Burmese pastors, refugees, or family friends. Truly a multigenerational household. Until this summer, I visited every year for at least one holiday/break. I lost my first tooth here, I learned to ride a bike in the driveway, I saw two of my mom’s siblings get married & have their reception here. Countless, palpable memories. When I think of this house I smell curry and mohinga, I hear Pwa-pwa & Pho-pho humming while they work, i remember how the trees make it seem like you’re in a forest. On Friday the house passes into new hands. I hope the next family finds as much joy and gives new memories to her walls.

1970 letter from Sen. Edward Brooke of MA (in office from 1967 to 1979), congratulating Mom on attaining U.S. citizenship. I think it particularly heartfelt.

Letters to Dad, congratulating him on attaining U.S. citizenship in 1968, 6 years after immigrating. One is from Jack Williams, Governor of Arizona, 1967-1975. The other is from John Rhodes, U.S. Congressman in AZ's 1st district, 1953-1983.

Made the pimento cheese recipe from @gardenandgun that has pickled ramps - it is divine, especially with (unsalted) saltines.
