Huge Thanks to my Brother Charlie Hart and the whole @squassation.bdm crew Tim, Brad, and Nate!!!

Once our show together in Nola got canceled due to weather, Charlie mailed me my copy of #decoratedwithfeculentappurtenances and it just came in tonight.

The show on the 10th was supposed to be their vinyl release show and I bought a copy early so I could get it on the night and have them all sign it.

It was also a super nice surprise to be reading through the inner sleeve and see my name in the thank you list completely unsolicited!!

Brutal Death Metal from the North-American band @squassation.bdm and their newest album called 'Decorated With Feculent Appurtenances'. Disgusting and rotting music is being thrown at you with full force which can cause some serious injuries especially when it comes down to these vicious and unrelenting riffs that could melt your flesh of your bones. Even the drums don't play around as they go full speed like a machine-gun in an active warzone. Vocals tend to go to the more Old School Brutal Death Metal style like Dying Fetus or Cannibal Corpse which is a nice addition to their already carnage inducing sound. If you need your daily dose of vitamin B(rutality), then put on this album, it'll be enough for the whole day!

Rating: 8,5/10

Artifacts of Brutality - Top 20 BDM albums of 2025.

AOB is proud to announce our picks for the top BDM releases of 2025. We only selected full length and EP releases (min 12-13 minutes).
We had 48 albums from our original list, it’s always a challenge to get that down to 20.
Overall this was an outstanding year for brutal death metal, so many quality releases, but we felt that Squassation took the award for the top BDM release of 2025. This band has mastered that old school BDM sound , straight out of the late 1990’s through early 2000’s Unique Leader era. “Decorated in Feculent Appurtenances” has been in constant rotation for me since its release this fall….it is a must have for all extreme music fans.

Maybe you have already checked out a few bands on the list …if so, definitely let us know who your favorites were.

Issue 3 is currently available at: artifactsofbrutalitymagazine.bigcartel.com

We started our AOY lists back in 2020. Here is a breakdown of the number one picks:
2020 - Scatology Secretion: Submerged in Glacial Ruin
2021 - Undeciphered: Beneath the Gentle Smile
2022 - Stabbing: Extirpated Mortal Process
2023 - Nithing: Agonal Hymns
2024 - Despondency: Matriphagy
