Please join us in congratulating Bories & Shearron Architecture on receiving the Julia Morgan Award from @icaanocal @classicist_org in honor of the house they designed for Suzanne Rheinstein in Montecito – a favorite project in collaboration with a much-loved client 💚 In a total transformation of Rheinstein's 1971 California ranch, @boriesandshearron preserved the footprint and roofline while recladding it with flat clay roof tiles and stucco walls, as well as creating a new entry courtyard, windows, and doors. North-facing windows and doors were enlarged to take in awe-inspiring views of the San Ysidro mountains. Landscape design by Nancy Goslee Power completed the picture for Rheinstein, an avid gardener and renowned decorator, who continues to inspire.

Thank you to the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and the brilliant jury @alexahamptoninc @schaferbuccellato @kathrynherman4 @kathrynhermandesign

I am a little wuss when it comes to wallpaper. The commitment / cost / labor overwhelms me. I’m not saying I won’t change, I’m just saying I’m not there YET. But a delightful little border? Just an itsy bitsy edge detail? I could be really down for that. Hence all of these ref images from my recent pins.

Wonderful editorial in @verandamag written by @michaelboodro which visits an extraordinary project by designer Suzanne Rheinstein (@sra_interiors) and architect Gil Schafer (@gpschafer).
We are very proud and honored that Suzanne selected our hand produced Trieste linen for the drapery and upholstery in this remarkable installation. Photography by @pieterestersohnphoto #legracieuxcreative #handproduced #linen #refinedtaste #homedecor #interiordecorating

All the greats at the Kips Bay President’s Dinner 2023 honoring one of the all time greatest @suzannerheinstein 💚 A true inspiration, she will be sorely missed, as you can tell watching these clips from the evening including a wonderful video with tributes from dear friends @dara_caponigro @michaelboodro - who worked on her recent book - and architects @boriesandshearron - who collaborated on her Montecito home. @bunnys_eye @bunnywilliams_interiordesign also spoke from the heart 💚 Thank you to the much-loved President, Jim Druckman @nydc for including us and keeping us all in it for the kids @kipsbaybgc @kbshowhouse

There are some rooms that are so seductive they linger in my memory in the most delicious way—if I close my eyes I can sense the sweet fragrance of garden roses, the glow of a wood fire, the lush glamour of a silk-velvet sofa, the glimmer of antique silver.

Designer Suzanne Rheinstein was adept at creating such remarkably evocative spaces and her Manhattan living room will always remind me of our wonderful meals; funny, fascinating conversations; and treasured, decades-long friendship.

At once feminine and fierce, Suzanne was strong, resilient, reasonably stubborn, and relentlessly joyful—even these past few challenging years. Today, on what would have been her birthday, I appreciate not only her celebrated elegance, but also her intellect, creativity, curiosity, generosity, candor, and grace. Admired and beloved, @suzannerheinstein leaves behind a rare standard of excellence; I already miss her so.
