To kick off the last 10 days of Latinx Heritage Month we asked our employees to share their stories, what is special about their heritage, and what they wished people knew about their culture. #Celebrate #LatinxHeritageMonth #YelpLHM #FollowUS

"I was born in Peru and my family came to California when I was four years old. My mom is Peruvian and German and my dad is full Peruvian. I've had the privilege of really growing up in a Peruvian household but also adapting to American culture. I was raised speaking Spanish at home with my family and English at school so I have been fortunate to grow up speaking both fluently. I love the fact my parents were big on keeping traditions alive so I grew up eating the most delicious Peruvian homemade dishes - aji de gallina is my favorite! What I love the most about my culture is how vibrant and loving it is. Family is at the center so I grew up in a close knit family where we celebrated every holiday and birthday together. We find any excuse to throw family reunions because it is non-stop salsa dancing! We’ll dance to anything that has a beat! Being raised in a Latin household my parents always encouraged me to study hard, work hard, and be passionate about everything I do. I’m very blessed to be a Latina working in tech. I always want to be able to share my culture, experiences and values with others to showcase how amazing a workplace can be when you have so much diversity. I get to share those different perspectives at Yelp!"- Silvia R., User Operations. #FiveStarCareer #Peruvian #Latinx #YelpSF #UserOps
