Two years ago today, I received the Women Who Roar Award.

Funny enough, I was nominated and filled out the application almost as a joke. I didn’t actually expect anything to come of it. A friend of mine had been nominated that same year, so we went to support each other, enjoy the event, and see what it was all about

And somehow, I walked away with an award.

I’ve never actually shared this video.

There’s something incredibly strange about sitting in a room full of people, listening to someone else tell your life story. Hearing your tragedies, your struggles, and the things you barely survived being presented as a story of strength and success.

Because when you’re the one living it, it doesn’t always feel like strength. Sometimes it looks like survival. Sometimes it’s stubbornness. Sometimes it’s sheer willpower. And sometimes, if we’re being completely honest, it’s pure spite.

There’s something almost haunting about hearing the worst chapters of your life spoken aloud while people applaud the person you’ve become because of them.

Especially when you know how much of that story was never supposed to happen.

I think we have a tendency to romanticize resilience. We celebrate the people who made something beautiful out of something devastating, but we don’t always acknowledge how ugly the process of getting there can be.

I didn’t set out to become an inspirational story. I was just trying to make something meaningful out of circumstances I never would have chosen and grief.

And somewhere along the way, I did.

Two years later, life has thrown a few more plot twists my way. Some beautiful. Some brutal. But I’m still here, still growing, still fighting for the things I believe in, and still finding purpose in places I never expected.

I’m learning that you don’t have to love the things that happened to you to appreciate the person you’ve become in spite of them.

So, two years later, I’m finally sharing this video.

Not because I need to relive the recognition, but because sometimes it’s worth looking back and realizing just how far you’ve come.

Here’s to the women who roar. Especially the ones who had to learn how

Sharing my summer feature in SRQ Home & Design Magazine!

This Punta Gorda waterfront project was all about creating a home that feels timeless, inviting, and effortlessly coastal. From the custom details to the layered textures and classic blue-and-white palette, every space was thoughtfully designed to be both beautiful and livable.

So grateful to SRQ Magazine for showcasing this project and to my clients for trusting me with their home!
