Greece, I love you. 🌹

I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy some outrageously special trips this year, to some pretty far flung places, but one that really stands out is Zagorohoria.

Six days on foot through the Zagori region, tucked deep into the Pindus Mountains of northwestern Greece. A UNESCO World Heritage landscape of forty-six villages collectively known as the Zagorohoria - literally, the “villages behind the mountains”- Zagori is an extraordinary place. This is unspoiled Greece at its finest, far beyond the usual tourist trail.

I wrote about it for @cabanamagazine (more soon).

Ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ to Steph from @nefelinineretreats and Yorgos from @true_adventure.gr, for leading the way, and being the best guides ever; and to the wonderful, funny, fascinating humans in our group who made these days so special. Plus some cute surprise cameos from @joshuabtbarley, and Elli from @sterna_papigo as well.

It’s very beautiful here. X

Some beautiful moments from a beautiful week in Dikastika for our Signature Retreat 🌿
.
We hiked, we yoga-ed with a view that rather made the case for itself 🧘‍♀️, and we experienced everything Mother Nature had to offer (including the bits that weren't on the itinerary). We swam 🌊, we ate far more than any reasonable person should 🍽️, and we even enjoyed a little side of tsipouro with our morning coffee ☕. When in Greece.
.
Thank you to a wonderful group for joining us for the ride. You brought the laughter, the curiosity and the appetite, and we couldn't have asked for better company. Come back soon. The tsipouro will be waiting

We caught Zagorochoria at that lovely moment when summer and autumn overlap. 🍂

The mountains are still gloriously green, but autumn is starting to sneak in around the edges. Cooler mornings, crisp blue-sky days, a few golden leaves appearing here and there — basically, hiking weather doing exactly what hiking weather should.

We spent our days walking through huge landscapes, ancient stone villages and some of the most spectacular scenery in Greece. There were long hikes, very happy lunches, a lot of “just look at that!” moments and, naturally, the occasional debate about whether we really needed to walk that far for lunch. (We did.)

There’s something pretty magical about Zagori. It’s wild and dramatic, but also incredibly peaceful.

Luckily, we’re back in 10 days. 😎

And if you’d like to experience it for yourself, we still have spots on our spring Zagorochoria retreats.

Big mountains, beautiful trails, good food, wonderful people and absolutely no need to figure out where you’re going next. We’ve got that bit covered. 🥾🌿

Lunch the Greek way ❤️🌿

🥗 a Greek salad,
🍉 a slice of watermelon,
🍑 a beach peach,
🧀 a chunk of feta,
🥣 a really good chickpea dish,
🍞 too much bread,
🫒 and olive oil on absolutely everything.

No complicated recipes. No oven. No stress.

This week I made the most delicious chickpea dish (photo 3) from @despinasiahuli (it's already gone into my "make again immediately" folder), and it inspired me to put together a couple of my own favourite no-cook summer salads too. Think ribbon courgettes with lemon and herbs, and watermelon with feta, mint and basil. The kind of food that tastes like a Greek summer.

Whether it's a long lunch at a little seaside taverna or throwing together whatever's fresh from the market at home, I really think this is when Greek food is at its best. Simple ingredients, eaten slowly, preferably with good company and absolutely no plans afterwards.

I've shared the two salad recipes on the blog if you'd like to bring a little Greek summer to your own table. ☀️🇬🇷

What's your favourite thing to order at a Greek taverna?

The best-kept secret in Greece? September. ❤️🌿

While the world rushes home after August, September is when the mountains truly wake up. The summer heat softens into crisp, perfect hiking weather, and the trails empty out under a warm, golden light. The villages exhale, the taverna owners finally have time to chat, and the sea stays warm just for you.

We handle every single detail—from guided mountain hikes and daily yoga to nourishing, locally-sourced meals. All you have to do is turn up, breathe deep, and let the mountains do the rest.

We are down to our final few spots for September:

🥾 Pelion Hiking & Yoga Retreat | Sept 13 – 19 - 2 spots remaining

🏔️ Zagorochoria Trekking Adventure
Sept 13 – 19 2 spots remaining
Sept 20 – 26 2 spots remaining

Small groups, slow days, and Greece at its absolute most generous.

Ready to join us? Send us a DM or head to the link in our bio to claim your spot before September is fully booked! 🤍
