POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Completed 42 solar returns yesterday. In true Libra fashion, I’ve been celebrating all month and there are still days left in October to celebrate some more. ✨ Grateful for all the people and things, big and small, that bring beauty and laughter and growth into my life.

A belated Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! Which is every day so this post is right on time ;)

I’ve been thinking a lot about my reconnection journey this past year. I stepped into a new role that has allowed me to support Indigenous groups & communities doing incredibly important work across Turtle Island and beyond. It has served as an important reminder of how much I still have to learn and how beautiful and messy and important that cycle of growth can be.

I am grateful for all the people who have been part of my growth and my journey. I am grateful for the way that running and spending time outside has allowed me to (re)connect with the land and water. & by extension, the way that connection has allowed me to (re)connect with myself along the way. Colonization intended to sever that connection with the land, with each other and with ourselves so part of my work to decolonize means doing the work to heal those connections and to be a good relative.

May every voice be heard. May every language continue. May every generation know where it comes from.

Today and every day, we honor Indigenous peoples.

Indigenous peoples are here, we are still here.

Our languages, stories, knowledge, and traditions are living. Our communities continue to create, teach, protect, celebrate, and shape the future.

Today, we honor those who came before us, those carrying these traditions forward, and the generations still to come.

We gathered.

We carried the songs into the arena. We honored those who came before us and welcomed the next generation.

To the dancers, singers, drum groups, elders, families, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who helped carry the 2026 Sacred Springs Powwow: thank you.

These portraits hold only a few of the faces from a gathering made possible by many.

Until we gather again.

Moments, portraits, and details from the Sacred Springs Powwow 2026.

A few frames from the day, photographing the people, the regalia, and the moments in between.

Grateful to everyone who let me make these photographs.

Where tradition moves with the rhythm of the drum.

Pow wows bring people together through dance, music, regalia, and generations of tradition. Every step, color, and beat carries a story — a celebration of culture, community, and heritage that continues to live on.

📸 Capturing a moment of tradition in motion.
