Here is my redesign of Astra, with @sstartwork providing the colors.

In the Jamie-Verse, Astra left Magneto’s Brotherhood to pursue her own vision for mutantkind. For decades, Astra built her life’s work, the Mutant Archive, amassing hundreds of thousands of genetic profiles, including the world’s most powerful and dangerous mutants.

After the Event, Astra came to Sanctuary and discovered its lunar environment was changing how the X-gene expressed itself. Fascinated by what she found, she used the Archive to study the changes, experimenting without permission. Douglock detected unusual activity. Sage uncovered Astra’s experiments, the Archive, and Joseph’s mindless body held in suspended animation.

When Joseph died in Transia, Astra recovered his remains and rebuilt him. His body lived again, but Joseph was gone. To Astra, he was nothing more than an unfinished experiment.

The High Council ordered her to stop. Astra refused to surrender her life’s work and left Sanctuary with Joseph, returning to Earth. She claimed the abandoned laboratories beneath Mount Wundagore as her own.

But Sage had not discovered everything.

Astra had stolen Sinister’s research on the Twelve. With their DNA already in the Mutant Archive, she grew their clones for one purpose: to harvest their combined powers. The process killed them, but gave Astra exactly what she needed for her experiment.

Astra combined the powers of the Twelve and transferred them into Joseph. He was transformed into M-XII, her masterpiece, a mutant believed to have limitless potential. M-XII had no will of his own and was completely under Astra’s control. She decided when he acted and how his immense power was used.

Beneath Wundagore, M-XII serves as Astra’s weapon and guardian of the Mutant Archive, protecting her life’s work and what she believes is the future of mutantkind.

Sanctuary proved the X-gene is still evolving, and Astra intends to understand where that evolution leads. No matter what lines she has to cross to get there.

Here is my redesign of Cecilia Reyes, with @gat_melvyn_colorist providing the colors.

In the Jamie-Verse, Cecilia Reyes spent years insisting she was a doctor, not a superhero. The Event changed that. When Sentinels attacked the Morlock tunnels, Cecilia ran toward the danger. Cornered with several injured Morlocks, she pushed her force fields harder than ever, holding the line until Cyclops and a team of X-Men arrived. He knew Cecilia had finally chosen her path as a hero.

That choice changed her medicine too. On a later mission, a man was critically injured after attacking a mutant child whose powers erupted in fear. Cecilia saved him anyway. To stop his internal bleeding, she instinctively generated a force field inside his body and kept him alive.

Cecilia soon discovered she could create multiple independent fields and shape them within the body, letting her stabilize several patients at once, contain bleeding, protect organs, isolate toxins, and develop procedures never before possible. Wanting greater precision, she approached Forge for help designing a tool. He built a visor that lets her see inside patients and design fields on the fly, opening even more possibilities for her medicine.

Her leadership during the evacuation and groundbreaking work led the High Council to unanimously name her Sanctuary’s Chief Medical Officer. When Cyclops personally chose her for his first response squad, his faith in her helped Cecilia finally believe she belonged among the X-Men. She knew it was finally time for a codename. Safeguard. Cyclops thought it was perfect.

Today, Safeguard protects lives in the field and practices medicine on Sanctuary. Beast occasionally pulls her away to Haven’s End, where drinks, laughter, and a little flirting are becoming a welcome distraction.

Cecilia once believed she had to choose between being a doctor and a hero. As Safeguard, she finally understands she was always meant to be both.

For Cecilia’s redesign, I wanted her life as a doctor and her new role as an X-Man to come together. Her sleek, practical look gives Safeguard a stronger superhero presence.

Here is my redesign of Trago, with @sstartwork providing the colors.

In the Jamie-Verse, Trago came from Earth-1037 and found a home in the Morlock tunnels beneath New York City. His mutation made him something closer to a chameleon than a man. Among the Morlocks, he made sense again.

Trago’s skin shifts with his surroundings, bending color and pattern until he disappears into stone, rust, and darkness. His eyes move independently, tracking every angle at once. With a prehensile tail and specialized grip in his hands and feet, he moves across walls and ceilings with ease. His tongue is his deadliest weapon. Launched faster than most can react, it can strike from a distance and deliver a controlled dose of paralyzing venom, leaving enemies conscious but unable to move.

Under Callisto’s leadership, Trago became one of her most trusted warriors. He looks up to her need to protect her people. She knows his value and what he is capable of when the tunnels need someone silent, strong, and unseen. He is often sent in after Beautiful Dreamer fills the air with her fog. Where she clouds the mind, Trago ends the fight before it can begin.

Among the Mutant Underground, Trago has formed close bonds with Leech, Spyke, and Beautiful Dreamer. They echo the New Mutants of Earth-1037. With Mermaid, it is different. Their interactions are rare. She is the X-Men’s liaison to the Mutant Underground and a former ward of Callisto. From a distance, Trago watches her. He is drawn to her in a way he does not yet understand. He is beginning to learn what it means to care for someone beyond the fight.

Trago does not seek recognition. He does not need it. In the dark, he is always present, even when he cannot be seen. Those who threaten the Morlocks rarely understand what is happening until it is already over.

Trago’s enemies rarely see him coming. By the time they realize he is there, the fight is already over.

For Trago’s redesign, I wanted to make his appearance more chameleon than his original look. I studied images of different types of chameleons to achieve his look. I’m quite pleased with the results.

Here is my redesign of Ruby Summers, with @sstartwork providing the stunning colors. Look at that skin. Omg! In the Jamie-Verse, Ruby Summers is sent back in time to reshape the future, that she caused to happen. Shard, Bishop’s sister, appeared before Ruby on the boardwalk of Atlantic City and told her of the new future caused by Fitzroy. When Ruby asked Layla Miller to return her love from the dead, she knew this day may come to pass. With Trevor Fitzroy returning to life mysteriously and being appointed as the White King of the Hellfire Club in the present, it set in motion a worse future than the one Ruby called home. Accompanied by Shard, they timeslide to the present and are met by Layla Miller, who was sent by Fitzroy to end them. Corrupted into being Fitzroy’s personal bodyguard, Layla tries to kill Ruby and Shard, and relentlessly attacks the duo. With what she thought was no option left, Ruby strikes Layla down. When the dust settles, Shard is nowhere to be found. Ruby, alone in a timeline she is not familiar with, devastated that she had to take Layla’s life, looked for meaning. She came across Toad’s Brotherhood and saw them helping mutants, by any means necessary, and decided to join his cause. While she doesn’t know what will happen, she hopes to get close to Fitzroy to try to save him, and if she can’t get through to him, she will end his life to prevent the dark future of his making. She will not let other’s suffer for her rash decision. For Ruby’s redesign, I didn’t have much to go one. I knew I wanted black in the colors scheme. I decided to add white, to honor Emma, and purple, as it goes well with Ruby’s red skin. Red and Purple of colors signified with royalty and she is the daughter of the White Queen. I wanted something fun and sporty, but sexy as well. Here is my redesign of Beautiful Dreamer, with @sstartwork providing the dreamy colors. In the Jamie-Verse, Beautiful Dreamer has taken to life as part of the Mutant Underground very easily. Having team clothing, food, medical supplies, etc. has allowed Dreamer to see what she has been missing living in the Morlock Tunnels. Mixing her favorite furs with her new team clothing options, she is turning herself into the fashionista of the group. While the clothes and supplies, without the rules of Sanctuary, are worth staying on Earth to help her follow mutants on the run, Dreamer has been exploring her powers, as well. She has practiced releasing her dream smoke at a higher capacity to affect many at the same time and at the same potency and efficiency as when she would ensnare one person. Due to how impressed she has been with Dreamer’s dedication, Callisto has made Beautiful Dreamer the first line of defense in the tunnels to protect those hiding with the Mutant Underground. If the sensors of tripped, Dreamer immediately releases her dream smoke to stop those infiltrating the tunnels. She has practiced many scenarios - mazes, brick walls, fire breathing dragons, lava monsters, etc - anything to make those coming into the tunnels leave as fast as they can. Dreamer is grateful for the opportunity but still slips into old ways from time to time, playing with those around her out of spite and for amusement. For Beautiful Dreamer’s redesign, I wanted to keep key things about her look - a hat, her furs, and a dress/skirt. While she is known to wear a veil, I decided to have her hair play a part in covering her face a bit. And while she was using whatever she could find during her time with the Morlocks, she was always a little over the top. I wanted that to continue that and the long skirt and boots helped.
